History
The Kingdom was founded in 959 after Lotharingia split into two separate principalities: Upper and Lower Lorraine, the westernmost part of the Holy Roman Empire. The Duchy of Lower Lorraine was quickly demolished, while Upper Lorraine was known simply as the Duchy of Lorraine. The Duchy of Lorraine was coveted and briefly occupied by the Dukes of Bourgogne and the Kings of France. In 1737, the duchy of Lorraine was given to the father-in-law of the French king Louis XV Stanisław Leszczyński, the former king of Poland, who had lost the throne in the War of the Polish Succession, and this meant that, the Duchy of Lorraine will fall into the hands of the Kingdom of France upon the death of the former king of Poland. Stanisław died on February 23, 1766, Lorraine was annexed by France and reorganized as a province. It was in fact a territorial exchange arranged between the House of Bourbon of France, Spain and the House of Habsburg of the Grand Duchy of Austria. The then Duke of Lorraine, Francis Stephen, was betrothed to the Archduchess of Austria Maria Theresa, the future successor to the Habsburg Monarchy, although the Royal House of Lorraine did not want to trade ancestral lands for the Grand Duke. Tuscany, but under pressure from the Holy Roman Emperor Karl VI, Duke Francis agreed, so that his marriage to the emperor's daughter would not be threatened. The descendants of Francis Stephen and the Austrian Archduchess Maria Theresa were given the dual surname Habsburg-Lorraine, they inherited the vast Habsburg Empire in Central Europe and the Grand Duchy of Tuscany in the Italian Peninsula. After the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806, these descendants founded the Austrian Empire and later Austria-Hungary. In 1919, after defeat in World War I, the Habsburg-Lorraine clans of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Hohenzollerns of the German Empire officially lost their thrones in Europe.
It was not until 1976 that Obelia became independent, initially the name of the country was given as the Obelia Empire, The Obelian Empire was a powerful sovereign nation with a prosperous culture. The empire was formerly dominated by the nobility, but when it was renamed the kingdom of Obelia Lorraine, the influence of the open nobility gradually lessened. The Obelian Empire had previously established a number of laws to govern the use of Treasury. By law, all mages in the empire had to register themselves, regardless of whether they worked for the royal family or not. Subscriptions allow mages to access official resources, such as premium grimoires containing confidential information about Treasury. The use of Treasury to invoke corruption or money laundering is prohibited, as it weakens the monetary system and gives an unfair advantage to those who can use Treasury. Those caught making counterfeit money will have one hand cut off, personal property confiscated and sentenced to 30 years of manual labor. The use of Banned substances is strictly forbidden as it leads to many side effects, including deadly curses that endanger the lives of the user and those around them.
The law was repealed in 2018 at the request of the Mondstadt royal family because of its concerns about human rights and the remnants of a dictatorship.
