The Kingdom of Drunia, commonly just Drunia, is a federated state and one of two kingdoms in the Garman Empire. It is also the largest and oldest state within the empire and the most politically and culturally significant.
The kingdom has only ever existed under the Garman Empire and so is very politically in line with the empire. The kingdom is under a semi-constitutional monarchy. Currently Colin I serves as King, alongside his position as Garman Emperor. The kingdom also has its own unicameral parliament and a small government lead by the Prime Minister of Drunia.
History
Drunia is the oldest state in Garmany. It was founded on 18 August 2023 and was swiftly given a platform nationally in the articles of the Garman constitution.
Government and Politics
Drunia currently is both a federated state in the Garman Empire and under their own semi-consitutional monarchy authorised by the Garman Constitution.
Monarchy
The Monarch of Drunia is the royal head of state of Drunia. They normally concurrently reign as emperor of Germany, despite being more powerful than the Garman monarchy - seen in the fact that the Drunian monarch doesn't need the Prime Minister's countersignature to pass royal decrees that affect the kingdom whereas the Garman monarch needs the Chancellor to countersign any imperial decrees which affect the empire as a whole.
The monarch currently is Colin I who became king on 18 August 2023.
Prime Minister
The Prime Minister of Drunia is the state head of government of Drunia. They are appointed by the Drunian monarch and serve at their pleasure. According to the Drunian constitution, they should be the individual capable of commanding the most confidence in the kingdom's parliament - as a result they are almost always the leader of the party with the largest number of seats in the Drunian parliament after state elections.
The prime ministry is currently vacant.
Parliament
The Parliament of Drunia is the unicameral state legislature of Drunia. The body is elected by first past the post and can be dissolved by the monarch. The government of Drunia originates from the state parliament. Both national and state parties are eligible to run in general elections and form governments in Drunia.
Relationship with the Empire
As the largest and oldest Garman state, is is very influential at both a state and national level. Nationally the Drunian monarch wields the most power, due to the clause in the Garman Constitution granting the "Presidency of the Empire" to the King of Drunia. As a result, the King of Drunia also serves as Emperor of Garmany and no-one can become the Garman emperor unless already King of Drunia.
While the monarchies may be united, the governments of the empire and Drunia are not.
Brodiff also serves as the capital city of both Garmany and Drunia.
Economy
Drunia's economy is heavily tied into the empire's. While neither the empire or Drunia have an established currency, as Drunia is the largest state within Garmany its economic dealings have a large impact on the empire's economy.
Geography
Currently Garmany's primary land claim is Skomer, which is the territory held directly by Drunia. As the largest state currently both in population and land, its land makes up most of the empire's territory currently.
