The Kingdom of Almoa, commonly known as Almoa, is a self-declared sovereign state known as a micronation by external observers. It claims Bir Tawil as its territorial claim and is made up of five ceremonial counties. The nation was founded on 7 April 2023.

The nation is a unitary absolute monarchy. Despite this, it has a bicameral parliament and a prime minister. The national religion is Orthodox Christianity and maintains a national church.

History

Almoa was established on 7 April 2023 by first and current monarch, King Winston I. The nation was established as an absolute monarchy.

Government and Politics

Almoa is a unitary absolute monarchy. The monarchy serves as head of state but may appoint a prime minister to serve as head of government, whom is accountable to parliament.

Monarchy

The monarch is the oldest and most senior office in Almoa and serves as the head of state. The monarch holds absolute power over the kingdom and is the supreme source of power for institutions such as the prime minister, government and parliament. The monarch appoints the prime minister and cabinet, as well as serves as commander-in-chief of the armed forces. The monarch can also grant peerages. The monarch also serves as head of their royal household, currently the House of Fitzgerald.

The current monarch is King Winston I.

Prime Minister

The prime minister of Almoa sits as head of government. They are normally a member of the House of Commons and they chair the cabinet. They are appointed by the monarch, who can technically appoint whomever they want but usually appoints the person who would command the most confidence in parliament.

Parliament

Parliament serves as the legislative body of the nation. It is bicameral consisting of a House of Commons as the lower house, and a House of Lords as the upper house. The House of Commons is made up of Members of Parliament who represent a constituency and is also the house the prime minister and cabinet normally sit in. The House of Lords is made up of members who hold peerages or senior religious titles within the nation, members are appointed by the monarch and the prime minister can nominate people for peerages and seats in the house.

Administrative Divisions

Almoa has five ceremonial counties, sometimes also known as a province. Each county is ceremonially presided over by a Lord Lieutenant, whom is appointed by the monarch - as well as each having their own duchy title and bishop in the national church.

Culture

Almoan culture is somewhat inspired by British culture. The national religion is Orthodox Christianity, which influences government. The Church of Almoa serves as the national church. English serves as the national language. There is no established media within the kingdom but freedom of press is supported.

Geography

Almoa currently is staunch in its claims of Bir Tawil. The nation's claim dates back to its foundation on 7 April 2023, but also claims the land under its citizens feet until which time the nation can be better established in its claims.
