The Republic of Kalossia (ROK), often simply known as Kalossia, was a micronation located in Central Arkansas. It was completely surrounded by the United States. It claimed, at its height, a modest territory of about 0.17 acres and contained 5 citizens at its height, 3 of whom resided within the Republic’s borders with the others being citizens of Pulaskia.
Kalossia’s territory was, before colonization by European powers, inhabited mainly by the Quapaw and Caddo peoples. It was incorporated into the French Empire and handed to the United States after the Louisiana Purchase in 1803, and was slowly settled. Kalossia was officially declared on 27 April 2023, after fears over what an Aglesian invasion would mean for the people that would join Kalossia. The roots of the nation were likely set in the (faked) Pulaskian Civil War. The founder and only president of Kalossia was Brayden A, and there was no known holder of the position of Vice President. The Legislative body of Kalossia remains unknown and it is possible that none officially existed. Throughout its history, Kalossia established inter-micronational relations with neighboring Aglesia and New Pulaskia, eventually finally reincorporated into New Pulaskia, possibly due to stagnant growth of the nation.
Etymology
The name of Kalossia is taken from the name of the Pokémon region Kalos, which itself comes from the Greek κάλλος (kállos), meaning beauty or handsome, and the suffix -ia, meaning land. As such, the name essentially means “beautiful land” or “handsome land”. It is unknown of the exact reason for the choosing this name.
History
Pre-Kalossia
The region formerly known as Kalossia was formerly inhabited by Quapaw and Caddo natives, before becoming a part of the United States of America after the Louisiana Purchase, specifically the State of Arkansas. The area began to be settled in numbers in the early 1800s, and Little Rock, one of the first and largest settlements, began in the 1820s. The land was urbanized and industrialized throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, with Brayden A, leader of Kalossia, born in the 2010’s and moving to attend the Bryant School District not long before he joined Pulaskia’s in early 2022.
Pulaskia
Brayden would become Minister of Armed Services (now Minister of Defense) of the Democratic Union of New Pulaskia following the 2022 elections, with this being the earliest recorded mention of Brayden within New Pulaskia. He would also be made General of the Pulaskian Army, a position he would keep for some time. In September of the same year he announced he would be giving up the position of General to Lily Burnett, though this never occurred. Brayden would open the small business of Eagle Arrows not long after, which gave archery lessons and equipment recommendations for a price of $5 NPD ($2.50 USD), though the business would close its metaphorical doors not long after for reasons unknown. Mentions of Brayden do not pop up again until November, when he supposedly began a civil war, though emails suggest he was attempting to arrest Aglesian emperor Gavin M prior to this for crimes. According to Joseph C, Brayden stated he would use Pulaskian resources against the nation in a bid to take over. Dia Bird, a newcomer to Pulaskia, stated Brayden possibly wanted to betray the nation with help of Gavin, Joseph C, and the military to bring it down. Suggestions of arresting Brayden were made, but not executed, as the talk of civil war was all stated to be a rumor started to fuel chaos. Distrust of Brayden grew as it was rumored he had ordered an assault on Gavin M, and a court case was planned but never executed. Brayden was mostly quiet over the next few months, with very light participation in New Pulaskia.
Early Kalossia
The Republic of Kalossia was declared on April 27, 2023, by Brayden A, likely out of fear of an Aglesian attack on Pulaskia and cries for peace and near total pacifism. Kalossia gained a population of 3 early on, with Taryn H becoming a full Kalossian citizen and Ayden T acquiring dual citizenship. Kalossia set up the KIB (Kalossian Investigations Bureau), and stated intentions of allying with New Pulaskia. The nearby Empire of Aglesia, however, stated troubling intentions to “peacefully annex” Kalossia, with Brayden subsequently stating Aglesia was unlikely to annex anything peacefully. With Taryn joining Kalossia, Brayden also released a statement affirming that no discrimination of any type would penetrate Kalossian borders. Due to troubling actions of Aglesia, a plan was proposed to use Kalossian and allied forces against Aglesia in the case of war, though thankfully it never had to be executed. Kalossia would quickly settle into a lull over the summer, and would slowly and quietly decline after.
Decline and Reintegration
Kalossia’s presence was felt less and less over the time of the 2023-24 school year. Most micronations, including Pulaskia, seemed to be heading for collapse, as many lost interest. The Kalossian flag was created around this time, called a Zelda ripoff by Gavin M, but mostly things were quiet. In the spring of 2024 Kalossia experienced some limited growth, with Sophia B acquiring dual citizenship along with another full citizen, Ashley T. In April, Kalossia, which had long been a full member of the Country Talk Google Doc used by Pulaskia and surrounding micronations to communicate after The Fall of email, was stripped of all status in the doc upon a proposal by Gavin M, with Brayden A and Taryn H removed and an ambassador position opened for review. Despite the application of Sophia B to the position, the decision was rescinded days later after another meeting between Ayden T and Gavin. Brayden would also become involved in create the SSoP (Secret Society of Pulaskia), a secretive reform society, which was disbanded days after creation due to controversy surrounding the secrecy of the organization. Kalossia’s brief and quite uneventful existence officially came to an end on April 3, 2024, less than a year after its founding following talks between Brayden and Ayden and a final approval of unification by the Presidential Council that day. Brayden would go on to found Kalos City, taking a small chunk of Bryant around Brayden’s house and leaving a small legacy of Kalossia, now a mostly forgotten nation.
Government and Administration
Kalossia was de facto governed by a direct democratic federation, though due to its small population it resembled more of a benevolent dictatorship with no elections being held at any time within the nation’s short history and no other position besides that of the President being officially created. The head of state and government was the President, with no known legislative body for Kalossia and no other known positions.
President
The president was the elected head of state and government of Kalossia. He was intended to be elected every year directly by the people of Kalossia, however, due to its short history, elections never took place in Kalossia. He was responsible for maintaining unity within the Republic and keeping the peace in micro national and international affairs, as well as managing the nation. The term of the president was renewable for as long as they were elected by the people’s consent. The president did have veto power as well, and for all of Kalossia’s existence essentially managed the entire nation. The last president was Brayden A.
Vice President
The vice-president was intended as the second in command to the president. Though it was likely intended for this position to exist, no one ever held it. They were intended to be elected annually, and would likely be responsible to assist the president in decision-making for the country and to fill the role of the President if he resigned or was ill.
Legislature and Polticial Parties
Kalossia was not known to have any legislative body of any kind, despite the likely intentions to create one later down the road. Kalossia also did not have any known political parties during its existence, which makes sense seeing as how the nation never went through any elections during its lifetime.
Administrative Regions
Kalossia maintained no known administrative divisions of its own, with its capital assumed to be modern Kalos City, which comprises the home of former President Brayden Armstrong, with another town declared by Taryn H under the name Gayville.
Law and Order
Kalossia had no known police or judiciary system in place, with the KIB (Kalossian Investigations Bureau) likely serving as a sort of semi-police force for the country.
Foreign Relations
At the time of reintegration into New Pulaskia, Kalossia maintained an unsigned alliance with New Pulaskia that had an official treaty in the works but that had not been submitted for signing. Kalossia maintained a frosty relationship with Aglesia, with much suspicion of the country coming out of Aglesian Emperor Gavin M’s statement of intentions to “peacefully annex Kalossia”, leading to an incredibly tense relationship that may have been laid to rest had the Kalossian-Aglesian-Pulaskian Non-Aggression Treaty, in the works at the time, been signed. Kalossia had no other known intermicronational relations, but was mainly put under the protection of New Pulaskia as Kalossia, a mostly pacifist country, maintained no military force, though they claimed to have an arsenal of nuclear weapons that could be used if needed.
Geography and Climate
At its height Kalossia was made up of mostly of flat suburban terrain, with some trees in areas, and houses spread throughout Bryant and Benton. Due to the country comprising mostly of member’s homes, no other information on any areas of the country will be given. The capital was most likely based out of modern Kalos City, located in an area of Bryant, with the largest city being Bryant itself. The region that once made up Kalossia has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and cold winters. Rainfall and snowfall are evenly divided among the months of the year, and yearly sunshine hours average a whopping 5,160. Summer is hot and humid throughout the old Kalossian lands, with average highs of 93 °F (34 °C). Winters are generally mild to cool, with average temperatures of 55 °F (13 °C). Early spring (March) is cool-ish and mid and late spring (April/May) is warm to hot.

Demographics
Languages and Culture
The official languages of Kalossia were English and French, with 100% of the population being native English speakers. All known government business was written and conducted in English, and it was the only truly common spoken language among the populace. Other languages were secondary and spoken roughly and not fluently. French was spoken by 60% of the population, with 40% having spoken Portuguese, 20% spoke Spanish, 20% spoke Hawaiian, 20% spoke Italian, and 20% spoke Korean. The culture was heavily influenced by American culture, with the populace having celebrated dates such as Christmas, the 4th of July, Halloween, and others.
Population
At its height, the population of Kalossia stood at a total of 5 citizens (dual and full), with all citizens officially having been eligible to vote in annual elections. All Kalossian citizens lived in the Pulaski/Saline County area of Arkansas but often traveled elsewhere. Many had mixed ancestry as Hispanic/Latino, German, Hungarian, Dutch, French, and many other groups.
Economy and Labor
The population of Kalossia was mostly unemployed due to the age of the population. Imports from the United States included almost everything imaginable, from clothing to food to electronics and art supplies.
