The city of Bryant is the largest in Hurricane and New Pulaskia. In the United States various statistics have deemed Bryant the best Affordable Suburbs, the second fastest growing community in Arkansas, 86th best place to live in America, and 10th best location for jobs. It is the historically largest city in New Pulaskia, and (within Pulaskia), is the capital and largest city of Saline Province.

Etymology

The way the city of Bryant obtained is name is unknown. One wagon-trail tale points to a settler named Benjamin Bryant, a revolutionary war veteran who settled north of Bryant on Stagecoach Road. It is known that a group of early pioneers traveling to Texas was stopped at Hurricane Creek. Some decided to settle there, under the surnames of Ulmer, Elrod, and Horn. Whether any of these pioneers knew Benjamin Bryant is unknown [1].

History

It is known that a group of early pioneers traveling to Texas was stopped at Hurricane Creek by high water, camping and waiting there. Men in the group looked over the territory, liked the location, and decided to make the area their home. Where they settled is not definite[2]. A skirmish in the area occurred during the American Civil War at the Battle of Hurricane Creek. Rail service in the 1870s brought development. The town was hard hit by economic struggles in the early 20th century and through the Great Depression. World War II era saw development as demand for the area's bauxite grew. In the 1950’s, as Interstate 30 was built through the town, Bryant experienced a population boom that has steadily continued. As of the 2020 US Census, the city hosts 20,663 residents[3]. The city now hosts the main hub and center of New Pulaskian government, and is the center of action despite not being the Capital, though some consideration has been given to make it the new capital. It was the site of the Jaelandian War, which saw action by the North Little Rock-based Republic of Overbrook, predecessor to New Pulaskia, and successor republics, namely Nordlandia. It was also the site of the COVID Crisis an attempted coup against the government while President Ayden T was out with COVID, the Resignation Crisis, when Vice President Kahlan H resigned, UMC Crisis, when a United Micronational event turned to an assassination, Xaidian and Aglesian Crises, Defense Crisis (formerly known as the Pulaskian Civil War), January Crisis (a false alarm “rebellion”), False Email Crisis, an attempt to start war between Xaidia and New Pulaskia, Kalossian Annexation Crisis, when Aglesia attempted to annex the nation of Kalossia, Email Crisis (the Fall, when student emails were blocked), Crumpler Crisis (another false alarm “rebellion”, and, most recently ended, the Pulaskian Civil War. A more detailed history of the events taking place in Bryant during Pulaskian history can be found on the Pulaskian history page.

The Province’s Representatives in the Presidential Council are currently Sophia B, Kingston M and Keller H, who mostly represent the population of Bryant and the neighboring city of Benton.

Important Locations

In Hurricanian terms the Bryant High School is an important area for practical purposes and bragging rights. The school has very successful academic programs and football team. It also is the place of current education for President James Tyhurst. Other places of interest include Mill's Park , the local Wal-Mart and Lowe's, Bryant Cemetery (which contains a memorial dedicated to the Battle of Hurricane Creek), and the Hurricane Lake Estates neighborhood (also known as Capital District in Hurricane). In New Pulaskia, Bryant Middle and Junior High Schools are important locations, being where the entire population is educated. It is the center of government business being the largest city in Pulaskia, but it is not the capital despite some quiet proposals.

Important People

Currently President Tyhurst is the only Hurricanian in Bryant, though it is expected that more locals will join the Federal Republic. Several New Pulaskians, including Vice President Kahlan H, M. of Commerce Leo L, and Treasurer and Head of the NMSA Joseph C reside in Bryant making it a very important city. Other locals include Prospellan Emperor Gavin M and President of New Italia Matthew M.
