Japanese 'sakoku' policy during the Edo Shogunate is often considered William's inspiration for the isolationist model.

The Isolationist Edict of 2024 was an executive order signed by general commander William Mevd on the 14th of February 2024 with the intent of ceasing foreign relations with all micronations except for Ela'r'oech. It is enforced across all of Kamore and its vassals with unanimous support within the state council.

Background

Kamore has had multiple isolationist periods during its existence, mostly driven by inactivity. When Kirbia was taken over by Kamorese administration under Winston, its former owner had caused controversy to arise surrounding Winston's administration, starting the first desire for seclusion. This controversy eventually grew into Kamore's disadvantage with general commander William Mevd starting to consider isolationism in late 2023, though this was never taken as a serious issue by the state council.

By early 2024, William would be approached by pro-Xavierists seeking to restore Kirbia to its former owner. This would be the first time isolationism was considered a proper measure to protect not just Kirbia, but also William's reputation. When William brought forth the edict on the 14th of February 2024, it would pass unanimously through the state council, being ratified and promulgated the same day.

Decrees

The edict contained multiple important decrees, such as the following:

  • All foreign affairs were relayed to the general commander, who would become the head of foreign affairs for Kamore, Kirbia and Visnet. Along with this, all nations were obliged to elect the same general commander from the house of Mevd-Kamore, solidifying William's position as a de-facto military dictator.
  • All diplomatic ties with other micronations were cut with the exception of Ela'r'oech, who would be the 'sole trustee' of the general commander to provide information about foreign situations.
