Ian Southwell is a micronationalist across Chicagoland and the greater Illinois area. He was the former Minister of Foreign Relations for the Holy Republic of FRID before leaving the republic to create the Salt Creek Republic.

Micronational career

Ian Southwell started his career as a micronational diplomat as one of the co-founders of the Holy Republic of FRID. During his time with the HRF, he was the Minister of Foreign Relations and a key contributor in the HRF's growing phases. In addition, Southwell was the vice-chair of the Assembly of Chicagoland Micronations and represented the HRF.

Much later in his micronational career, Ian would found the first political party in the HRF, the Populis Party, which builds its philosophy on putting the people before all else by strong-manning most, if not all, powers of the government to allow "little democracy, but plenty of prosperity"

On 1 July 2022, Southwell announced he would be leaving the republic and denouncing all titles given to him during his time. Shortly afterward, he announced the founding of the Salt Creek Republic and the secession of the Western and Southwestern Provinces of the HRF. On 2 July 2022, Southwell declared war on the Holy Republic of FRID on behalf of the Salt Creek Republic, thus starting the un-officially titled Creeker Rebellion.

On 24 January 2024, Ian Southwell brought forth the formal declaration of surrender of the Salt Creek Republic to the Holy Republic of FRID, signing it on behalf of the SCR. Following the signing, Southwell worked with the HRF in transitioning succeeded territory and SCR assets, as well as governmental restructuring.
