Hymn to Bzan
Hymn to Bzan, also known as Ode to Bzan or Bzan In Our Memories, is the name given to a Bzanite patriotic song that was used as the national anthem of the Democratic People's Republic of Bzan. Based on the Hymn of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, a number of differing lyrical and musical versions of the song have been used throughout it's history. Today, it is used as the national anthem of the People's Popular Socialist Republic of Bzan and is commonly played alongside the Internationale in the Democratic People's Republic of Erusia.
Music
The Hymn uses the same musical tune as the national anthem of the Soviet Union. When the Bzanite version was initially composed, it was played predominately by a full orchestra, although towards the end of Bzan's life it became common place for the piece to be played by a string ensemble only, backed by an acoustic grand piano in some versions. The tune of the original three-verse anthem was slightly different to that of the original Soviet anthem, having a new bridge between the second chorus and the third verse. After the collapse of Bzan, the International Community of Bzanite's adopted the slower and more mournful musical variation known now as Bzan In Our Memories. To date a number of different versions of the song exist.
Lyrics
A number of lyrical versions have been written to accompany the musical variations. Both Hymn to Bzan, the original anthem, and the more upbeat Ode to Bzan have differing lyrics. Bzan In Our Memories is never accompanied by lyrics. Although it is common place now to now play only two verses of the song, all versions have lyrics written for three verses. When the two verse version is played only the first and third verses are sung.
