The House of Delegates, officially the House of Delegates of the Province of Connemara, was the unicameral legislature of the Province of Connemara. The House was made up of 52 Delegates from single member constituencies. The House of Delegates nominated the Prime Minister of Connemara and his cabinet.
History
The House of Delegates was established on the 29 October 2021, as the legislative branch of the Connemara Provincal Government by decree of the Cabinet of Roscamistan.
Methods of election
The House of Delegates’s members, titled Delegate with a post-nominal of DC, were elected in single member constituencies by first past the post. There were 52 seats in the parliament.
Term length
The full term of the House of Delegates was 50 months unless the Administrative Officer of Connemara had permission to dissolve it.
Composition of the parliament
The House of Delegates was comprised of several parts. The parts are:
- The President of the House of Delegates: the presiding officer of the parliament. He was elected by the Delegates for the duration of the parliament. He had similar powers to the Speaker of the Unterhaus. He moderated the debates. But didn’t vote unless there was a 50/50 tie, then the President of the House of Delegates voted.
- The Prime Minister: the Prime Minister of Connemara is the head of government and one of the Delegates in the parliament. He was nominated by the house and was appointed by the Governor. The Prime Minister nominated delegates to the provincial executive departments and then appointed by the Governor.
- The Delegates: the house was made of 52 delegates elected from their respective constituencies. They voted on new pieces of legislation brought before the house.
