Lord High Steward
The Lord High Steward is the highest ranking great officer. They preside over impeachment trials of nobles on behalf of the monarch. They also play a role in state ceremonial life - doing things such as presenting the crown at coronations.
Lord High Chancellor
The Lord High Chancellor is the second highest great officer. They work with the government - specifically the Ministry of Justice, to oversee the judiciary and judicial policy.
Lord High Treasurer
The Lord High Treasurer oversees government spending on behalf of the monarch. They advise the chancellor of the exchequer and prime minister on the annual budget.
Lord President
The Lord President of the Council presides over the privy council on the monarch's behalf. They are usually assigned additional duties on top of this by the monarch or prime minister.
Lord Privy Seal
The Lord Privy Seal is the keeper of the monarch's seal. The post tends to be seen as a sinecure post as the office is seen as the most ceremonial of the nine great officers.
Lord Great Chamberlain
The Lord Great Chamberlain oversees financial matters pertaining to the royal court. They advise the monarch on royal household spending and ensure any money the royal family needs can be granted in the government's budget.
Lord High Constable
The Lord High Constable is a pseudo-military office. The officer oversees and commands military parades on state ceremonial occasions. The officeholder does not have to be a member of the armed forces, but military officers are preferred candidates for the role.
Earl Marshal
The Earl Marshal is the officer charged with planning and organising state occasions such as coronations, state openings of parliament, and royal funerals. They also chair the College of Arms and so can grant arms to Fatrean citizens.
Lord High Admiral
The Lord High Admiral is the ceremonial head of the Royal Fatrean Navy. The office usually reverts to the crown, but the office can be granted to citizens. Retired naval officers tend to be favoured candidates for the role. While the office is ceremonial, they have some oversight powers of the navy while operating within Fatrean waters.
Appointment
All great officers of state are appointed by the monarch and serve at their pleasure. The monarch is solely responsible for the appointment of the officers, but the prime minister is permitted to advise on the appointment of the officers that work more closely with the government.
