The Grand Duchy of Auckland is a micronation located upon the Auckland Islands (Auckland Island, Adams Island, Enderby Island, Disappointment Island, Ewing Island and Rose Island). It was founded on the 3rd of November, 2012 alongside another, obsolete nation.
In May 2022, the Arstotzkan Federal Government announced it would lay claim to a majority of the Auckland Islands, incorporating them as a part of the Union. The Arstotzkan Union only took claim over all of the islands except the Auckland Island.
Government
The Grand Duchy is ruled completely by his grace, the Grand Duke and by any granted his authority in a matter. The table of advisers have certain powers granted to them and may act without reference within these powers. The successor shall be the Grand Duke's firstborn child, bastards not included.
Advisers
The title of the adviser isn't used in the traditional sense. Advisers are appointed various tasks that include, but are not limited to; The Adviser of Education, The Adviser of the Guard and Defense, The Adviser of Transport and Tourism and the Adviser for Finance. All positions are granted by his grace and come with a certificate (Adviser must pay for expenses in receiving a certificate, such as printing out the official document).
Etymology
The nation was named after the main island of the Auckland Islands, Auckland Island. It was chosen after some debate as to whether the nation itself should be called Enderby after another Island in the group.
History
The Grand Duchy was started on the 3rd of November, 2012, with the aim of claiming and running the Auckland Islands, which had been attempted to settle upon in the past but had ultimately ended in failure, sadly. The nation was instantly under the rule of Grand Duke Seán I and has been so till this day.
Work on the national flag began on the 5th and the simple star design was chosen after. It was decided that the small nation should have a modest flag with a well recognizable symbol on it, along with the Union Jack of the Commonwealth of Nations. The flag was also influenced by the New Zealand flag, in terms of the use of stars.
On the 2nd of March, 2013, Preliator was chosen as the national anthem. It can be heard on YouTube for free, should one wish to hear it.
