The Government of Econia, officially known as His Imperial Majesty's Government, is the main executive body within the Imperial State of Econia and responsible for governing the nation. It is in theory only the fourth most powerful institution in the nation after Imperial Throne, the Council of State and the Riksting. In practice however only the Riksting holds more authority over the governance of the nation. The Government is divided into a number of departments that handle different aspects of the nations governance. These are led by Ministers appointed usually by the People's Minister on the Sovereigns Behalf.
History
The Governments constitutional role is based upon those of the Governments of Sweden, the United Kingdom and other constitutional monarchies. It was decided to not formally vest to much power in the institution instead making it a officially purely advisory body with the job of advising and recommending the Sovereign on how to use their powers. It was however made very clear that the Sovereign should delegate most of the governing powers of the Imperial Throne and the Council of State to the Government which he would appoint to rule in his name. The Institution was founded with the ratification of the nations constitution on 1 November 2023 but it wasn't until 6 days later on the 7th following the 2023 Riksting Elections when the first People's Minister was appointed and the next day the nations first Government was sworn in during the 2023 Riksting Opening Ceremony.
Structure
The Government is a executive administrative body requiring legislative support. It is divided into 10 departments. The most prminent of these is the Department of State led by the People's Minister. The other departments include those of Defense and Culture. The entire Government meets at least twice a month (but can meet more) in so called Imperial Council Sessions (Swedish: Kejserliga Rådslag) to discuss policy and current events. More often a select number of ministers meet during Ministerial Council (Swedish: Ministerråd). These meetings are less formal and discuss issues concerning only a few departments instead of the entire nation.
The Government has it's seat at 119 Ant Lane, which also houses the private residence of the People's Minister. It however conducts most of it's buisness at the nearby Riksting Building as it is there most of it's members as Representatives in the Riksting spend their days. From time to time the Speaker can also decide to hold Ministers Questioning during which different ministers get questioned and have to debate with members of the opposition.
