The Fortress of Invictus is the capital of the Invictus Republic of Excelsior. It is the largest Excelsioran city, and the home of President Silas Wurnbash.
History
The Fortress of Invictus was the site of the famous battle of park slope in the Excelsior-Granolan war. The fortress of Invictus was also the site of the Presidential and Chancelloral inaugurations for the 2022 Excelsioran election. More recently, in December 2022, the fortress was defended from New Brooklyn "terrorists", who attempted to invade and were routed by fortress guards led by Silas Wurnbash.
The Fortress of Invictus is the site of the creation of 'Invictisian steel', an attempt by the Military of Excelsior to create a metal for combat uses that could be made out of cheap materials that there were excess of. The project saw some success, as a material was created that was incredibly strong, however progress has slowed as it was shown that creating the steel in any useful quantity would be impractical and logistically challenging.
Defensive capabilities
The Fortress is almost always defended by 2-4 soldiers, with an additional ~10 soldiers within walking distance of the fortress should it come under attack. The Fortress is also fully armed with an armory that can arm an estimated ~20 - 30 soldiers.[citation needed]
Invictus frequently conducts training exercises in the fortress, including combat, strength, agility, and strategy training for its soldiers, and more intense training for the members of the Excelsioran special forces squad 'Force 14'.
