Introduction

The Kingdom of Kudawan is the second Micronation established by Tom Kap. The Kingdom of Kudawan borders Kayutsastan (Millania) as well as Denmark. Kudawan was established due to the desire to own another micronation, as well as too create a federal monarchy.

Etymology

Kudawan come from the Yusufic and Kayut word Ocean side. This symbolizes Kudawans proximity to the ocean and Kudawans different provinces and districts scattered across the globe.

Currency

The government of Kudawan has yet to establish a national currency. Currently the Danish Kroner is in circulation, and too lesser extent the Kayut Dinari (Used in Kayutsastan a Millanian Autonomous Region that borders Kudawan). The King however has mentioned the idea of a currency that would be divided into 240 cents, not 100 like the decimal currencies.

Transportation

Railways

A planned rail link between Kayutsastan (Millania) and Kudawan is underway. The train would be a model H0 Streetcar. Near Kota Raja as well as right next to the border is Osterport Train Station, which serves the Metro, Suburban lines, and national railways.

Roads

There are no paved roads but in some areas of Kota Raja (District 2) there is a bunch of dirt paths, which serve as a transportation network. In Kotayor, there is a small road down a hill made with stone steps. This road/path is called Kotayor Frontier Road 1, and it serves Terrasa, Kotayor, Kudawan and Mount Ambak Town, Jerak, Kayutsastan (Millania).

Pedestrian

Kudawan is most friendly for pedestrians, especially in the Kotayor region. One of the most interesting parts for pedestrians is Terassa border village, near the Kayut border. Sights around there include Mount Ambak and Tree Nymph Gold Tree.

Biking

Biking is also a mode of transport. Biking area include District 2 of Kota Raja, which comprises Ostre Anleg Park.

Air Travel

The nearest airport is Copenhagen Airport, which serves as a main entry point to travelers wishing to enter Kudawan. Before entering Kudawan, one must enter Denmark legally.

Culture

Languages

Kudawan is a Federal Kingdom with 18 subjects. The population speaks English fluently, and many people speak Spanish fluently. German is also spoken by fewer people, as well as Indonesian. Arabic is spoken among the Muslim community. Only 3 people speak Yusufic and Kayut, making them languages that are protected by the government. After the 2021 revival, steps have been taken to revive Yusufic and Kudanese Kayut. Yusufic has been classified as a traditional language, which should not be spoken informally. The Lingua franca is English, spoken worldwide.

Kudanese Malay

Kudanese Malay is a dialect of the standard Malay language, spoken in Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, and Singapore. It leans more to the Indonesian dialect of the Malay language, due to the reason that many of Kudawans citizens are Indonesian. Due to Indonesian and Malaysian originating from the language Malay, the Kudanese government considered it appropriate to classify it as Kudanese Malay. A unique feature of the language is the use of certain Kayut words, which almost makes the language a creole. When government documents are publish in Kudanese Malay, they are normally written in Jawi script, which is one of the many co official scripts used in Kudawan.

Kudanese Kayut

Kudanese Kayut is a dialect of the Kayut language (Bahsa Kayutsa), spoken in Kayutsastan (Millania) as well as in the now defunct rebel state Conservative Kayut Republic. The difference between the languages is minimal, with some words being different. Also, Kudanese Kayut uses the letter (é), while in Kayutsastan (Millania) that letter is not used. This table highlights the most common vocabulary differences between the two dialects.

Ethnicity

Kudanese people are a mix of Asian, European, and Latin American. Many Kudanese identify as Kayut, an ethnicity usually common in Kayutsastan (Millania). Critics have called Kayut as a national identity, however, most Kudanese traditions are almost identical to Kayut culture, with the exception of a few. This is due to Kudawans close proximity to Kayutsastan (Millania) and that many Kayut's from Millania/Kayutsastan hold dual citizenship with Kudawan.

Religion

Kudawan has many diverse religions, as well as religious institutions. In Kota Raja, there is a small Hindu and Buddhist temple, as well as a Church. Kudawan has many citizens of different religions, and due to its close proximity to Kayutsastan (Millania) many Kayuts hold dual citizenship with Kudawan, which has been the main reason for a large religious influx. Under Kudanese law, the country is a secular state and religious freedom is upheld by the government. It is considered a crime to commit a hate crime against any religion, as under § Law 11 of the Kingdom. The punishment ranges to deportation for minor disturbances, fines for median disturbances, and no less than 2 years of prison time for large offences. Due to the Kingdoms inclusive and open nature, no hate crimes against religions have occurred.

Due to the multi religious blend, many religions have impacted Kayut/Kudanese Animism, a local religion emphasizing Spirit and Nature worship. In Kota Raja, a temple to the rock guardian (Tépék Gung) can be found. It is of regular tradition to offer Joss Sticks, Candy, and Fruit. The Kudanese government has protected Kayut Animism as a piece of Kudanese cultural heritage. Kayut Animism is also practiced in Kayutsastan (Millania). A traditional Kayut custom practiced in both nations is Jénji, Kayut for Recognition. Recognition means recognizing everything in nature has a spirit in it, and that one must respect certain areas. This belief has lead to the widespread belief of believing certain places in nature bring luck and blessings.

Government

Monarchy

Kudawan is governed by a Federal Monarchy. The Monarch has absolute power, which makes the country an absolute monarchy. Provinces have levels of Autonomy, and there are plans within the government to establish an advisory council to make decisions with the King.

Buké Legal (Book of Laws)

Most laws in Kudawan are based upon the Buké Legal, or Book of Laws. These Laws are recorded down in the book to serve as a pillar of the countries legal system. The book was written by HM the King, and its significance is extremely important as it's considered the backbone of Kudanese society and how Kudanese people should act. It has been described as a Constitution highlighting how the country works, and a collection of the nation's most important laws.

Regional Autonomy

Provinces or Sen (In Kudanese Kayut) have a certain degree of Autonomy. They are allowed to make decisions regarding local affairs and may create laws in their own provincial legislatures. Under § Law 23 of the Kingdom Secession without consulting the government and without doing a referendum is punishable with deportation or loss of citizenship. Under § Law 25 of the Kingdom, violent succession i.e. Terrorism is punishable by no less than 5 years in prison. No violence or attempted secession has occurred due to Kudawans peaceful history.

Political Parties

Topek Party Conservatism, Low taxes, Kudanese Nationalism Tom Kap
Working Families Alliance Left Wing Niko R.

Many Kudanese also pay attention to the politics of Kayutsastan (Millania) due to the fact that many Kudanese citizens hold dual citizenship with Kayutsastan (Millania) as well. This is due to the fact that many laws in Kayutsastan (Millania) are similar to Kudawan, however, unlike Kudawan, Kayutsastan (Millania) has a democratically elected Legislature (Almuygan).

Foreign affairs

The government of Kudawan recognizes all UN member states except for North Korea.

Territorial Disputes

Currently, the Federal Kingdom of Kudawan has a territorial dispute, as the Kingdom of Denmark does not recognize Kudawan as a sovereign state, which happens to most micronations. However, there are no armed conflicts in the region due to Kudawan's government pushing for a peaceful diplomatic strategy. On March 12, a small misunderstanding occurred regarding the border line between Kayutsastan (Millania) and Kudawan. This was solved quickly and professionally.

Border with Denmark

Kudawan shares a border with Denmark, and has 3 border crossings on the Kudanese side of the border. The Danish side has no border crossings due to Denmark not recognizing Kudawan as an Independent state.

Border with Millania

Kudawan shares a border with Kayutsastan (Millania) an autonomous region of Kayutsastan (Millania). Kudawans border with Millania has been described as scenic, especially in the Kotayor-Jerak border area. Kudawan and Kayutsastan (Millania) both operate their own border stations and share a triborder with Denmark on Mount Ambak, a hill which has great significance or Kayut and Kudanese people. A maritime border is also shared on Siapa lake, and a small ferry terminal (wooden plank) is on each countries side of the border. Crossing the border during the COVID-19 pandemic is open, however anyone with symptoms is recommended to isolate immediately or stay home. Border police of both sides do not regularly patrol the border, as there have been no threats to safety in the border regions. Visitors from either countries are recommended to follow the law, as the penalty for certain crimes results in deportation to Denmark.
