Pollock, known officially as the Union of Pollock, is a de facto autonomous region, known as a self-proclaimed micronation.[1] Pollock is comprised of 8 provinces, 1 federal district, 1 district, and 2 autonomous regions. Pollock is an enclave surrounded by the city of Davis in the US state of w:California. The official language is English, although Spanish, Indonesian and Sinhalese are also spoken. The two autonomous regions were given that status under request from the inhabitants of the regions following the declaration of independence for Pollock.
Independence was declared on the 7th of June, 2019. Pollock originally was comprised of only the Federal District of Coburn, and was originally known as the 'Republic of Cobam'. On the 14th of July, 2021, the constitution was re-written, and Pollock claimed new lands, which are currently the other 8 provinces, district, and 2 autonomous regions. The national sport of Pollock, Wrestling, was established on the 19th of May, 2020, along with the national animal, the squirrel.
Pollock is an isolationist nation, and does not participate in many micronational alliances or organizations, although President William Coburn has encouraged other micronational movements and alliances to expand. Pollock has extremely tight border security, primarily in the Asphalt District, to prevent citizens from leaving, and foreigners from entering. The Gate of Pollock is not as guarded, although outsiders are frowned upon.
Etymology
The name of Pollock derives from the central street of the nation, which was known as "Pollock Court" when the nation was still a part of the city of Davis.
Etymology of the Province of New Sri Lanka
The name of the Province of New Sri Lanka comes from the long-time inhabitants of the region, Dilo and Sanjaya, who both hail from the nation of w:Sri Lanka. The language of Sinhalese is spoken alongside English.
Etymology of the Province of Lopez
The name "Lopez" of the Province of Lopez is derived from the surname of the inhabitants of the province. Spanish is spoken as well as English in Lopez.
Etymology of the Province of MacArthur
The Province of MacArthur gets its name from the surname of the inhabitant of the province, Robert, who goes by the name Bob.
Etymology of the Province of Gavetti
Like many of the provinces of Pollock, the Province of Gavetti gets its name from the surname of the two inhabitants of the province, Lu and Georgette.
Etymology of the Autonomous Region of Moore
The name of the Autonomous Region of Moore is derived from the large street that the region borders, Moore Boulevard, which is not a part of the Union of Pollock. Moore is extremely isolationist, and does not participate in the annual Neighbor's Night Out, a festival held in the Asphalt District to bring the inhabitants of Pollock together. Moore is possibly abandoned, and a large amount of mystery shrouds it.
Etymology of the Province of Wright
The name 'Wright' of the Province of Wright is derived from the very large park on the other side of Moore Boulevard, Frank Lloyd Wright Park.[2]
Etymology of the Province of Knight
The name 'Knight' of the Province of Knight is derived from the surname of the inhabitant of the province, Carol. English is exclusively spoken in Knight.
Etymology of the Province of Little Persimmontown
The Province of Little Persimmontown is named after the many large persimmon trees in the backyard of the province. The persimmons harvested are distributed among many of the other provinces by the kind inhabitants of Little Persimmontown, David and Denisse.
Etymology of the Federal District of Coburn
The name of the Federal District of Coburn is derived from the citizens of the region, who all share the surname 'Coburn' (US: /koʊbʊərn/). The Federal District of Coburn is the capital district, and holds the capital city of Coburnius.
Etymology of the Province of New Indonesia
New Indonesia's name is derived from the fact that the two inhabitants of the province, Steve and Caroline, are both originally from the nation of w:Indonesia.
Etymology of the Autonomous Region of New Willow
The name of the Autonomous Region of New Willow comes from the large willow tree in the front of the region. Like the Autonomous Region of Moore, New Willow is very isolationist, and does not contribute to nation-wide events. The estimated population is around 10, as the inhabitants of New Willow do not appear in official government records due to their extreme isolationist attitude.
