The Midwest Krone was created on January 7th, 2024 as legal currency for all Midwest Micronational Alliance members to use as currency. One Krone is equal to about $0.10, thus ten Krona is equal to about $1.00.

Etymology

The name of the Midwest Krone comes from the "Midwest" term in the Midwest Micronational Alliance (the Alliance that runs the currency.) Even though the midwest region of the United States is not west of the middle, it was coined back when the region was midwestern. The "Krone" part of the name is commonly used in Europe, summoning from the word "Crown" in both Danish and Norwegian.

Units

Only the standard Krone exists, the plural is Krona. There are no subunits, such as coins.

History

There is no history at the moment, as the currency is fairly new, besides the fact that the currency became legal tender in Filikigi on January 16, 2024.

Banknotes

Midwest Krone is printed from standard US Letter (paper size) computer paper. Each banknote is 2.125 x 2.75 inches in size, thus four banknotes can fit on one page. Currently, MK1, MK5, MK10, MK100, MK500, and MK1000 are the only banknotes to exist so far.

Value

One unit of Krone will always be worth $0.10, and about €0.09. About three krona can buy you a banana, fifteen krona could buy you a pack of gum, and about 5000 krona could buy you a video game console.
