The Þeiod av Þe Markomanas, often simply called The Markomanas or Þe Markomanas, is a Þeiodihsh tribe hailing from Wazazark. They are currently led by Kunihg Bakar Deransonu av Hus Muhlnaz, the refounder of the tribe.

Þe Markomanas are a Germanic Complex Chiefdom, their governance bound together by a complex network of oaths and favors. The current ruler, Bakar Deransonu av Hus Muhlnaz, is kunihg only by virtue of refounding the tribe.

In general dealings with outsiders, Þe Markomanas are at first friendly but distant; They prefer watching and assessing their options before establishing relations with others, though trade is always on the table. However, under any amount of provocation past initial warning, they are likely to become hostile and have been known to outright attack; war, like trade, is always on the table.

Etymology

The name Þeiod av Þe Markomanas comes from the Markomanihsh language, a language in the West Germanic branch of the Germanic language family. Its direct translation is "Tribe of the Borderfolk" or "Tribe of the Frontiersmen"; Both are acceptable translations, as they carry the same connotation.

History

Antiquity

The lineage of the Markomanas can be traced back to several Þeiodihsh tribes, the earliest of which is the Ald Markomanas. The Þeiodihsh expansion, and subsequent wars with Walakraik led to the eventual addition of members of prominent tribes such as the Alamanas, the Sæksonwas, the Ænglas, and the Yutas. Also added from this period, though of lesser prominence at the time, were the Baiaweras.

After the fall of Walakraik, the Freinkwas took much of Europe by storm, and began to aggressively spread the faith they adopted from the Walakas. By the end of the Freinkowiga, those of various tribes still loyal to the gods fled to avoid persecution. This led them to many places, and by the time of the tribe's reconvening, they had learnt much from the peoples they had met.

Foreign relations

Þe Markomanas have little in the way of foreign policy; Generally, they are content to be left to their own devices. They are a mercantile people, eager to trade for goods and precious metals alike, and prefer an upfront friendly approach with unknown people they believe they can trade with.

However, should non-Ozarkers try to claim a place in their mark and sacred lands, the invading party shall find themselves facing the other side of the tribe. At their heart, they are a warrior people, with a warrior culture and mindset.

Administrative regions

Explain your nation's claim system, and the various types of constituencies your nation may have, for example, the difference between a district and a territory. It is preferred that you do not discuss each constituency in this section. Instead, the names of each constituency in the table should be linked to their own separate articles. You can add and remove columns as you wish, but generally, include fields for the flags (which should be kept small, at most 100px wide (less if more rows listed) and have a border), name, and important fields such as area, population, governor and/or representative (or equivalent position). You do not need to include a column for a seal, flag, or coat of arms for each constituency if it they do not have one.
