The Department of Historical Documentation was an Austenasian organisation the primary purpose of which was to document and record historical events within the Empire of Austenasia. The department was founded by Lord Charles Ross following his appointment as Official Historian by Emperor Jonathan I on 3 May 2019. However, the Department never had anybody else working for it and existed in name only. Upon his own appointment as Official Historian on 13 May 2024, Jonathan I dissolved the organisation, judging it superfluous to the position.
