The Republic of Daliwood (Spanish: República de Daliwood; Toki Pona: ma Talilu), commonly known as Daliwood, is a democratic republic located in eastern North America. Established in 2023, Daliwood is a nation dedicated to the arts, with art being their national focus and economic driver. The nation's main export is sculptures, with clay being a valuable resource.
As a democratic republic, Daliwood has strong national values of individual liberty and artistic freedom. Focused on leftist-libertarianism, the nation has very lax laws in regards to copyright, with very limited restrictions on freedom of speech and expression.
The nation has a foreign policy of collaboration and noninterventionism. Daliwood seeks to establish an economy based on providing other micronations with art, such as statues.
Etymology
The nation's name is derived from a portmanteau of the names of Salvador Dalí, a famous Spanish artist, and Hollywood, a city in the United States famous for its film industry. In addition, the word "dali" is Portuguese for "from there", indicating the Daliwood's status as an exporter of the arts.
History
The nation's founder, Di Amador, Doge of Daliwood, always had a passion for art. Owing to frustrations with American copyright law and political turmoil, as well as the instability of American democracy, they established the nation of Daliwood on 1 October 2023, coinciding with the celebration of Inktober, a yearly month-long observance dedicated to drawing.
On 4 October 2023, the constitution was ratified, and the flag and coat of arms were designed. On that day Di was crowned as the first Doge of Daliwood as well. The title of Doge was inspired by the historical Republic of Venice, a republic known for its exportation of glasswork and other art.
On 5 October 2023, Doge Di Amador signed the Treaty of Diplomatic Relations between the Kingdom of Salanda and the Republic of Daliwood, establishing formal diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of Salanda.
On 7 October 2023, Doge Di Amador established the Ducal Guard of Daliwood, a guard force dedicated to protecting the Doge. They granted the title of Chief of the Ducal Guard to Maggie Amador the dog. On that same day, the national anthem Oh, Daliwood was adopted.
On 7 November 2023, Daliwood joined the Imperial Levinian Commonwealth of The Empire of Levinia.
On 9 November 2023, the Doge formally annexed Fomalhaut as an extraterrestrial territory of Daliwood. Following that, on 11 November, the Daliwoodean Armed Forces were established.
On 26 December 2023, Daliwood left the Imperial Levinian Commonwealth.
Politics and government
Daliwood is currently ruled by Doge Di Amador of the Daliwoodean Pirate Party, a political party affiliated with the Pirate Movement that split from the United States Pirate Party. Daliwood is the first nation in which a Pirate Party has come to power.
Copyright law
Inspired by the original copyright law of the United States, Daliwoodean copyright law grants protection for works for fourteen years after their initial publication. After that point, works enter the public domain, becoming free to use for any purpose by any citizen. In addition, Daliwoodean law grants citizens the right to waive copyright on their works, dedicating them to the public domain immediately. Creative Commons and open-source licenses are recognized.
Freedom of speech, the press, and expression
Daliwood grants citizens the right to express themselves in almost any form, including forms that are critical of the government. The only exception to the freedom of speech is that hate symbols, hate speech, threats, and intimidation are banned unless used in a critical or artistic context.
Minority rights
Daliwood grants all citizens equal rights, regardless of race, ethnicity, sex, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or national origin. All citizens above the age of 18 may marry any consenting individual also above the age of 18, regardless of any of these factors.

In practice, this means that the Daliwoodean Armed Forces engage in friendly simulated battles and tabletop wargames. The Commander in Chief of the Daliwoodean Armed Forces is the Doge.
The Daliwoodean Armed Forces won their first naval battle, a game of Battleship, on the day of its founding.
