The Chief of the General Staff (CDS) is the second-most senior member of the Atieran Royal Army (after the commander-in-chief) having primary responsibility for command, control, organization and administration of the army, as well as army strategy, plans and development. The position is held only by members of the Atieran Royal Army by a member holding the rank of general. However, the first and incumbent Chief of the General Staff is held by Colonel William Cooper.[1]
