The Chapter General of the Sovereign Military Order of Saint George is the legislative body of the Sovereign Military Order of Saint George. The Chapter General has 5 members that meet once a month.

Membership

The Chapter General is made up of the following members:

  1. the Grand Master who presides
  2. the two Knights of Dames who are directly appointed
  3. the two Delegates who are directly elected
  4. the Ministers of the Sovereign Council who sit as non-voting

Meetings

The Chapter General normally meets once every month.

It can also be called to meet when:

  • when the Grand Master, having heard the Sovereign Council, may think fit.
  • when a majority of the Priories, Sub-priories and Associations make an application to the Grand Master.

The Chapter General usually has all members in attendance during meetings with occasionally having one member unable to attend. Meetings normally last around 20 or 30 minutes.

Responsibilities

The Chapter General has the following responsibilities:

  • electing the Grand Chancellor
  • electing members of the Sovereign Council
  • making amendments to the Constitution (by a two-thirds vote)
  • voting on legislation (simple majority vote)
