History

The Balzian National Olympics and Sports Committee was established on September 7, 2024, by Executive Order No. 18 signed by President Carl Miguel Salgado Victa. The creation of the BNOSC was driven by the need for a structured organization to manage and promote sports within the Republic of Balzi. Prior to the BNOSC, sports activities in Balzi were managed informally, lacking centralized oversight. The establishment of the Committee was intended to address this gap and support the country's growing interest in sports.

Executive Order No. 19 outlined the mandate, organizational structure, and functions of the BNOSC. This order was issued to formalize the Committee's role in organizing national sporting events, supporting athletes, and managing international participation. It also specified the roles of the President and Secretary General and described the Committee’s funding sources and compliance requirements.

Mandate and Functions

The BNOSC is responsible for the following:

  • Organizing National Sporting Events: The Committee is tasked with planning and executing various national sports events, including championships and tournaments. These events provide platforms for athletes to compete and demonstrate their skills.
  • Training and Supporting Athletes: The BNOSC develops training programs and supports athletes at all levels. This includes providing funding for training facilities, coaching staff, and medical support.
  • Coordinating International Participation: The Committee manages Balzi's involvement in international sports events, particularly those organized by the Micronational Olympics Federation. • Promoting Physical Fitness and Sportsmanship: The BNOSC promotes physical fitness and sportsmanship through community sports programs, educational initiatives, and public campaigns.
  • Liaison with Micronational Olympics Federation: The Committee serves as the main liaison between Balzi and the Micronational Olympics Federation. This involves managing communications, ensuring adherence to federation rules, and representing Balzian interests.

The BNOSC may undertake other functions as prescribed by law, including implementing new sports programs, collaborating with international sports organizations, and addressing emerging trends and issues in the sports sector.

Organizational Structure

The BNOSC is led by:

    • President: Appointed by the President of the Republic of Balzi, the current President is Felix Isaac Tomado.
