Avonite Protected Area
Avonite Protected Areas are special regions of the State of Avon that most often do not fall within or under the jurisdiction of Avonite political subdivisions or Boroughs. These sites are placed under Avonite protection because they are deemed significant to the people of Avon's cultural or historical identities. Several Protected Areas are quite large, significantly larger than the entirety of mainland Avon. They lack permanent populations and are often also classified as historically significant by the United States federal government.
History
The first Avonite Protected Area to be created was the Grasslands Heritage Site, thought to have been incorporated within the State of Herzetia around 2020 or 2021. The rest of the current protected areas were not incorporated at a specifically known time, but their inclusion roughly coincides with the inception of the State of Avon in August of 2022.
Creation Process
The process for the creation of Avonite Protected Areas is simple: the Chairman of Avon has full rights to declare what is and what is not an Avonite Protected Area, though it is expected that they adhere to the guidelines of the site being significant to Avon's people due to its historical, natural or cultural features.
