The SocialDemocratic Leadership Elections of 2012 was triggered by a general election which resulted in a hung parliament. On 2 November, Alexander Eastwood resigned as Leader of the SocialDemocratic Party for choose a new leader. On 2 November, Lucy Moore became the new Leader of the SocialDemocratic Party. Since she gave false informations the party decided to do another Leadership elections that took place the 19 November and saw Sante Carbone as winner.
Results
In accordance with the principles of the Alternative Vote system, until one candidate won a majority, the candidate with the fewest votes in each round was eliminated and his or her second preference votes distributed to other candidates.
