Amicae, fully the High Kingdom of Amicae, alternatively Union of Amicae, also known as the Union of Atiera, Oskonia and Galte was a proposed state that would be the result of a political merge of the Kingdom of Atiera, Kingdom of Oskonia, and Principality of Galte. At the time, Galte was a province of Atiera.

The union would be a unitary rotational monarchy composed of the three constituent countries headed by their own sovereign monarchs. It would therefore not change the nature of the countries' statehood and sovereign power, but said power (derived from the Union Council) would collectively put trust into a government of all three countries. The union would not be one of crowns or of nations, but solely a union in state and government.

Background

The idea was conceived by Chris Ramsay in talk with the Tucker of Oskonia and Michael of Galte. All of the aforementioned were initially in support of the idea. The three argued that politics and politicians were becoming increasingly intertwined. According to Ramsay, executing the idea would make the political entanglement less complex. The situation had come to where the three nations comprised a sector in the community of micronations, and the unification would compact the close-knit sector into a single larger entity, creating less responsibility for individuals, and allowing more dependence on each other. Liam Alexander, at the time King of Atiera supported the idea after being introduced.

Preparations

During the following days after, certain preparations were made for the idea to be implemented; such as the name, the leader, and attempts were made at a flag. It was seemingly going in the direction that the nations were going to share one government, and that the three monarchs were going to make up a Union Council presided over by one member. Talks about giving the state its own name were answered when Liam Alexander proposed the name Amicae, simply meaning "friend" in latin. The etymology refers to the close-knit nature of the three unifying parties.

It was decided that the Union Council was going to practice a rotational leadership, similar to the presidency of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The union's head and the council's figurehead would be one member of the council switched around at the discretion of the council. This would allow the union monarchs to be able to rely on each other. The uncontestably longest debate was what to name the leader of the council. The title of Emperor was almost immediately forwarded and heavily considered whereas Ramsay proposed President of the Union Council - relating the leadership to an office and not a title. Both were disregarded, Emperor especially so, given the historical weight of the imperial title. Monarchy was however largely supported, and the consensus shortly landed on High King. The prince of Galte was elected unanimously to become the High King following the implementation of the union.

Disinvolvement

When the king of Oskonia raised suspicions over whether the plan was going to go how he had envisioned it, there was not much the other parties could do. Attempts at convincing the king only seemed to encourage the opposite, and the question of unification over time dwindled to irrelevance.

Today

In casual conversation, Amicae is still referenced often with a longing context. It is theorized that had it been implemented carefully, it would work as intended. There exists no organized base for its support.
