The 2024 Excelsorian civil war began on 25 April 2024, at 8:04 PM EST, when Secretary of War for the Revolutionary Republic of Excelsior Silas Wurnbash made a statement to the Excelsorian Discord server proclaiming that the Excelsorian territories of Invictus, Invictus Secundus, the Duck Island Territory, greater Brooklyn, Dylanland, Granola, Duckland, New Vitone, as well as a split section of the territory of Grandsia, with the capital city, Alis City, but not wider greater grandsia, as well as those territories' populations, in addition to a collection of Excelsorian Military Officers and the troops under their command, had all officially broken from the rule of the National Government of Excelsior, declaring war on the National Government soon after, in addition to declaring war on the nations of Cotter Menaceland, Bryantia, and Roscamistan.

Wurnbash later gave reasoning for the breakaway, in a statement released later that day:

The chamber (of representatives) was accusing the military of treason, attempting to highly regulate it and bring parts of it under their control, and blocking bills to ratify military organization, all while we were under threat from foreign powers. The military and the breakaway forces are doing this because we refuse to let excelsior die with it's head in the sand.

This statement was later condemned by the National Government. At 11:01 PM the same day, the nation of Axcalonia announced that it would support the Breakaway Forces in the war, following Wurnbash making a request for Axcalonia to follow their earlier promise to support Excelsior in war against Cotter Menaceland.

At an unspecific time during 25 April, the nation of New Brooklyn, which had been fighting a war of secession with Excelsior for over a year, announced support for the National Government, and joining the war.

On the 26 April, at 3:56 PM, Wurnbash would go on to announce that the nearby nations of Grovia, Valkerion, and the Republic of Fish had all joined the side of the Breakaway Forces, following the joining of the Breakaway forces into the NCCPS defense alliance. Later that day at 5:11 PM, the nearby nation of Kafkaland announced that it would be joining the side of the Breakaway Forces after it's president had a diplomatic talk with Wurnbash.

At 6:47 PM that day, after tense negotiations and political pressuring on both sides, with aid from the former President of Cotter Menaceland Conner Hetner, Wurnbash and Hetner secured the surrender of Cotter Menaceland and Bryantia under Roy Jackson, with leader of Roscamistan Thomas Jacobs also leaving the war later that day. The surrender also included a pledge to support the Breakaway forces, a pardon of all accusations ever made by Cotter Menaceland against Excelsorian Citizens, and the ceding of their Eastern Unorganized Territory to Excelsior.

On May 19th, the Excelsior national government official surrendered, being reformed by Silas Wurnbash into the Empire of Excelsior.
