The 2023 Ridgelantic federal election was the 2nd Ridgelantic federal election and the first Ridgelantic snap election, held from 8-9 November, 2023. After 28 total votes, the Sovereignty Party ticket of Forest C. F. as President and Audrey Howell as Vice President beat the Democratic Opposition ticket of Drew Tucker as President, and the Conservative Party ticket of Gage Coley as President[2].

Background

Rebellion in Kramerkolonie

Main article: Kramerkolonie Putsch

After being fired from the Department of Defense due to heated debates and arguments with Forest C. F., Ridgelantic politician Drew Tucker attempted to organize a coup d'etat in Ridgeland with the goal of restoring his power as defense minister and removing Forest C. F. from office. Tucker claimed that Forest C. F. was not fit for power and that his removal from the Ferrell cabinet was unconstitutional.

On 25 October 2023, Ridgelantic intelligence eventually leaked a reported 'coup d'etat' plan, resulting in a confrontation between Forest C. F. and Tucker, with Tucker providing a self-written bill that would have reinstated his power as minister, threatening a coup if he did not sign. Forest C. F. responded by tearing the paper on which the bill was written, and once again engaged in heated argument before Tucker eventually backed down and tore the remnants of the bill into pieces.

Tucker would eventually attempt to gain support for Forest C. F.'s removal of power by forming the Democratic Opposition, claiming that it was a reformation of the Conservative Party. Gage Coley, however, disputed the claim that the Conservative Party had reformed into the Democratic Opposition, and the claim that it, by order of succession, had inherited the Conservative Party's ministers.

Election and aftermath

The election was called by Forest C. F. on 8 November 2023, with Piedmonton and abroad-living Ridgelantics being the first to vote. The last day of Campaigns began in Kramerkolonie on 9 November 2023, and ended after minutes ballots ran out. After counting the votes, Forest C. F. declared himself as the winner of the election and closed the vote. Tucker demanded the polls remain open, attempting to retrieve more ballots from his mother. He would result to primitive techniques to win votes, using notebook paper. However, these were denied as official ballots by the government.

Notes

  1. When a citizen who does not live within defined Ridgelantic borders runs for office, their home state is automatically marked as Piedmonton. Tucker's locality had yet to be integrated into the Sovereign State of Ridgeland.[1]
