The Village of Azan, or Azan, was a Village during the Franklinite Era of the Empire of Terra-Dei.
The Village was on the border of Franklin, and was an ally of the Village of Shiloh. The two depended on one another for resources.
The Village was headed by Elder Nasir Ahmed, and was protected by a militia called "أذان جيش" or Azan Jaysh, meaning "Army of Azan."
Etymology
Azan is a call to prayer, done by Imams in mosques to announce the prayer times, and to gather the Muslims in the mosque.
History
Establishment
Azan was established 2 January 2022, by Elder Nasir Ahmed, to provide a place for all Muslim citizens of Franklin. This village had several huts, gardens, shops, and a mosque. They established an alliance with nearby Shiloh, a village of Franklinite Christians.
Disbandment
Azan was disbanded 25 March 2022, ten days after the Village of Shiloh was raided and destroyed by Kingsvillian forces. Azan depended on Shiloh for resources and aid, and no longer had the means to support itself.
Politics and Government
Elder Nasir Ahmed was the sole leader of the village, and he established a council of villagers to help him. This was common in many Franklinite villages, and is still common in the Empire today.
Law and Order
Sharia Law was the code of law in Azan, and it was strict to Sharia. This means it was a pure, strict, and traditional Islamic society.
Military
Azan Jaysh, the militia of the village, was loosely structured. It consisted of around 12 men, armed with swords and some rifles. A few men wore leather or chainmail as well.
Geography and Climate
Azan was located near the shore of Aleanbar Lake, and in the forest of Franklin. This region is warm and thick with vegetation in the summer, with common thunderstorms and cool winds. In the winter and fall this area is cold and dead, and the lake dries out dramatically, which allowed for villagers to venture out and search for a myriad of things in the water.
Economy
The Azani Dinar was a type of coin made from copper sheets. Often a stamp of an Eastern Arabic numeral up to 15 was made, which indicated the value of the coin. These coins are rare now, and the last one that was known of was lost in battle. The Azani Dinar was backed up by grain.
Culture
Azan was a very Arabic village, traditional Arab clothing was seen here, and a mosque was in the center of the village.
