The Vice Chancellor of the Gronean Empire, commonly the Vice Chancellor of Gronea, is the imperial deputy head of government of the Gronean Empire. They are the second highest member of the cabinet after the Chancellor.
The office is currently vacant.
History
The vice chancellery has some basis in the imperial constitution. It, as an office, was established on 6 September 2023 along with the chancellery.
Role
The vice chancellery is seen as an equivalent to a deputy prime ministry.
In everyday politics, being a vice chancellor is more an honorary title. The vice chancellor may head cabinet meetings when the chancellor is abroad or is otherwise unable to lead meetings. The function of vice chancellor is to use the specific constitutional powers of the chancellor in case that the chancellor is unable to perform their duties.
Despite their roles in aiding the chancellor, they do not have automatic right of succession to the chancellery in the event of the chancellor's death or resignation.
Appointment
The vice chancellor is conventionally appointed alongside the chancellor. However, officially the vice chancellor is appointed by the imperial monarch. This is normally done of the advice and nomination of the chancellor.
