The Chancellor of the Gronean Empire, commonly just the Chancellor of Gronea, is the imperial head of government of the Gronean Empire and chair of the imperial cabinet. The chancellor is the highest and most powerful non-monarchical political official within the empire. The office was established on 6 September 2023.

History
The chancellory of Gronea was established by the imperial constitution which was ratified on 6 September 2023. It is the oldest and highest ranking political office that Gronean citizens can attain.
Appointment
The chancellor is directly accountable to the Gronean monarch so is appointed by them and serve at their pleasure. By convention they are usually either: a) a member of the House of Representatives, or b) the Prime Minister of Bensia.
However neither of these conventions are required, with the Emperor having final say over whom is ultimately appointed to the office.
Role
The chancellor is an important political figure in the empire. They are first and foremost the imperial head of government and the Emperor's first minister. The chancellor is also the presiding officer of the Imperial Senate - the Gronean Parliament's upper house.
They advise the Emperor on the exercise of a number of his powers, countersign any Imperial Decrees making them law, as well as proposing legislation to parliament and leading government.
All members of the cabinet are nominated for office by the chancellor and then confirmed by the imperial monarch.
The chancellor is aided by a vice chancellor and the chancellory office.
