Exrio, officially the Sultanate of Exrio (Arabic: السلطنة الإكسروانية), Exrian: Sultankara ni Eksria) is an Islamic micronation approximated to have been founded conceptually between the years 2010 and 2012 by Mahmoud bin Umar in the land of Australia. On 10 October 2015, it became a republic marking the first governance period of the nation, however, the governance went into a hiatus after some time until recent years. On 9 June 2022, Exrio became a Sultanate with the Sultan being Mahmoud bin Umar. There is no current active government as of 2024 after Mahmoud left the ruling position in 2023.
Etymology
The word Exrio is an English form of the Exrian name of the nation "Eksria". "Eksria" is said to be derived from the Exrian word "Ekke" which is used as an honorific title and can be translated into "mister", although it has other meanings like "noble" and "educated".
History
Foundation
The nation of Exrio was approximately founded between 2010 and 2012 by Mahmoud bin Umar and is surrounded by Australian land. The exact date is unknown due to misplacement or loss of historical documents or lack of documentation but is able to be approximated by historical timelines and accounts. During this time, there was no official governance of the nation. On 10 October 2015, a republic and democratic government was established by Mahmoud bin Umar. A set of laws were established, an anthem was written, a flag was designed, and citizenship was offered. There were around 12 citizens during this time period. Additionally, there were sport associations and tournaments for sports like bat tennis, loudicrou (a native Exrian sport) and Exrian football. Areas of Exrio were named. Examples of city names: Jimasia, Mercay, Alieoue, Conteux, Kingsland, Timland, Lionzo, etc.
Establishment
On 9 June 2022, Mahmoud bin Umar re-established Exrio once again and declared it a Sultanate with Sunni Islam as its basis for the law and theological practices. Exrio began to search for allies, and on 10 June 2022, it became allies with the Republic of Arzuegria, the Kingdom of Babylonia, Ayyubid Sultanate, and the Crown Kingdom of Floppa. On 11 June 2022 it allied with the Grand Sultanate of Qardasha and the Kingdom of Great Esteria, and became a part of the Vaskorian Pact and The Alliance of the Neutral Nations (TANN), but left the TANN on 12 June, and rejoined the next day on 13 June following a technicality reconcile. On 15 June Exrio allied with Washingtonia, and on 16 June it allied with the Empire of Belangard. Exrio had also been in an alliance with nations the Sultanat-e-Pakistan and Sultanate of Mecca, but due to constitutional amendments regarding the criteria of eligible alliances the alliances had ended; the Sultan, however, commented saying that “the end of our alliance does not mean the end of our friendship and support for one another”.

The Sultanate of Exrio is a nation that became a constitutional monarchy on 9 June 2022 lead by Sultan Mahmoud bin Umar. On 2 August 2022 Exrio became an autonomous vassal of the Grand Sultanate of Qardasha.
