The state president of the Republic of Randulia (German: Staatspräsident, Slovak: Prezident Randulska) is the head of state of Randulia. The office was established when Republic of Randulia became a republic in 2021.
Ceremonial post
Initially, the Randulia Forward party decided against having an executive presidency, instead adopting a minimalist approach as a conciliatory gesture to citizens who were opposed to a presidential republic. As such, the State President performed mostly ceremonial duties, and was bound by convention to act on the advice of the Prime Minister and the cabinet.
Semi-Executive post
Although the Republic of Randulia is a parliamentary Republic, given that the State President is elected by the State Council, the State President has considerable veto powers and influence. The State President has the power to shape Randulia's foreign policy and, according to Article 25 of the constitution, has the power to ratify treaties. This means regardless of whether the State Council approved the ratification of a treaty, without the approval of the State President the treaty does not obtain the force of law. The state president together with the state council de-facto form the collective head of government of the Republic of Randulia.
State Security Committee
The state president chairs the State Security Committee(SSC) which was organized to advise the government on the country's national policy and strategy concerning security, its implementation and determining security priorities. The proceedings of the SSC are strictly confidential and so is the budget and projects associated with the council. The state president has the authority to invite external members to the proceedings of the SSC.
