Spon Awards
Awarded for Excellence in media, music, software and typography
Country Sirocco
First awarded December 2007

A Spon Award is an accolade bestowed by the Siroccan government to recognise excellence in media, software and music. Spon Awards are unique in that they are not restricted to content produced that year - awards have been given for content dating back to the 1950s.

Originally intended solely for music (the song that had been played most that year), in 2008 it expanded to include categories for film, television, typography and software, and since 2010, anime cartoons. The 2011 Awards included internet videos for the first time, and also saw the Spon Award (the award for overall excellence) renamed to become the "Spon Award for Excellentness".
