The Democratic People's Republic of Marksovka, more commonly known as Marksovka is a micronation within the United States. It is ruled by the Premier Michael Koestler, who was democratically elected on November 16 of 2013 for a 3 year term. The Premier Michael Koestler, founded the micro-nation on the 23rd of February in 2013. Marksovka is also known as one of the founders of the now dissolved Union of Micro-Nations.

History

Original Marksovkian Flag.

Marksovka was founded on February 23, 2013 by Michael Koestler to assist in a mock micro-national war which ended several days after Marksovka joined. Marksovka was originally named Chekovskaya, but the majority of citizens desired a name change, so a vote was held and the winning name was Marksovka, which was officially adopted on March 19, 2014. The nation was mostly internet roleplay based until June 2013 when Koestler decided to make the nation "more serious." Due to management of the Union of Micro-Nations, Koestler was often unavailable to carry out the day-to-day operations of Marksovka, and the nation became inactive for several months until Koestler dissolved the Union of Micro-Nations due to a belief that micro-national organizations do more harm than good. This action led to Marksovka making enemies with several of the Union of Micro-Nations former 62 members. In the last 3 months of 2013, Koestler decided to reform the government, rewriting the constitution, creating several groups in the government to assist in the management of Marksovka, and creating a new flag. On March 28, 2014, the Generalissimus Michael Koestler replaced himself as leader with a Troika, comprised of himself, the Minister of Science, and Donald West. On October 12, 2014, the Troika was abolished through a democratic vote and the office of the Premier as an autocratic leader was made.

Foundation of the People's Republic of Linian-Marksovka

On the 3 January 2015, the People's Republic of Linian-Marksovka was founded, which has allowed the two nations which founded it, Marksovka and Linian, to retain a high amount of sovereignty. Both nations have given up a level of independence to form the federation, but have not seen their individual governments changed more than a small amount.

Government

Marksovka is ruled by the Premier who has power to create and remove laws, along with control of the military. Laws can be added to the constitution which cannot be removed by the Premier if they are proposed by the Supreme Soviet and have the vote of approval from the majority of the members of the Supreme Soviet. The Premier has the power to impeach members of the soviet, but this can be overridden if the majority of the remaining members vote against the impeachment. The Premier also has the power to assign heads to the Ministry of Media, the Ministry of Defense, and other departments of the government. The people in government positions can also be replaced via a democratic vote, in which the Premier would have no power over.
