The Socialist Party, previously known as the Left Party, was a democratic socialist, left-wing political party operating in the Delsh-Westlandian Federal Republic. Founded on 14 July 2013 as the Federal People's Party, it won one out of three seats in the Federal Parliament in the July 2013 elections. The founder and leader of the party is A.T. Phoenix, who is also First Minister of Westland. It was re-established as the Left Party on 10 September 2013.

History

The Socialist Party has its roots in the Democratic Socialist Party of Westland, a Westlandian political party founded in May 2010. The Democratic Socialist Party was inactive for most of its existence between 2010 and 2012, although competed in (and won) the discredited May 2010 presidential elections. That party was disbanded in May 2012, but its founder, A.T. Phoenix, continued to be President of Westland, and manoeuvred the country's entrance into the Delsh-Westlandian Federal Republic. Upon entry into this union, Phoenix founded the Federal People's Party to contest in upcoming elections, and was elected as First Minister of Westland. On 9 September 2013, Phoenix announced the Federal People's Party would be re-founded as the Left Party, which was renamed the Socialist Party on 31 December 2013.

Policies and Platform

Social Policies

The Socialist Party supported a relaxed immigration policy with few restrictions, although they supported devolution to regional governments in this area. The party also supported relaxation of restriction on abortion and euthanasia, although they support higher levels of taxation on alcohol and tobacco. The party supported equal marriage rights and transgender rights, as equal rights for all were a central tenet of the parties' platform. It favours the creation of trade unions and supports a level of social security. They also supported stringent environmental policies and strict rules to ensure regulation of pollutants.

Foreign and Defence Policy

The party supported keeping a small army to protect the country from foreign threats, although it also supported a policy of complete neutrality in military affairs. It supported scepticism of intermicronational organisations, however it supported expanding the nation's diplomatic affairs to a large extent.
