The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, sometimes known as the Foreign Secretary, is a minister of the crown in the Government of Fatrea. They have overall responsibility for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The incumbent is a member of the cabinet and reports directly to the prime minister.
The corresponding shadow minister is the shadow foreign secretary.
The office is currently vacant.
History
The post of foreign secretary was established on 15 February 2024 with the foundation of the Fatrean government.
Appointment
Like other ministers of the crown, the foreign secretary is appointed by the monarch. The officeholder is appointed on the nomination of the prime minister. As one of the most important and senior members of the cabinet, the appointment of a foreign secretary is often a priority appointment on the formation of a new government.
