The Governorate of Salicia is a Governorate of the Kingdom of Fontasia. Its capital is the city of Salicium. It has a total population of 2. The region was once known for its recreational activities and beach. The northern part has since deteriorated into a near dilapidated slum, and the southern part has remained relatively safe and stable.
Brief History
Salicia was colonized by Assemblians in the summertime of 2016, arriving in the capital city of Salicium. Salicia remained the capital of the Assemblian North Coast until around 2018, when it was moved to Rye.
Salicia was practically left abandoned until 2021, when Assemblians invaded Arcath Island south of Salicium, and conquered Fort Tannebon. Several months later, Assemblians returned back to Salicium and inspected the decrepit conditions of the colonial capital. Crime was rampant, as well as substance use. From that point onwards it became viewed as a poor backwater of Assemblian colonialism.
Remarkably, the territory survived the Great Liberation of Assemblian territories at the end of the Assemblic Imperium. It remained an Assemblian colony and became a Fontasian governorate on 1 March 2022.
As of current, the Fontasian government has yet to visit the territory, and there have been arguments that the Governorate should either be completely abandoned, turned into a Protectorate or become apart of the more frequently visited North Coast governorate.
Government
Until the beginning of localized rule in the Kingdom of Fontasia in late 2022, the Governorate of Salicia, as with all Governorates were directly controlled by the Fontasian Royal Government. In Praetorial elections, the Governorate has sided with varying political parties, notably the the Ergatist Party of Fontasia in Spring 2022 and the Free Fontasia Party in Fall 2022.
As of 2023, there are six municipalities in the Governorate of Salicia.

Geography
Salicia is located in the Northern Region of the Kingdom of Fontasia as an exclave completely surrounded by the United States. It is approximately 10 miles south of Rye, North Coast, 27 miles northeast of Dobrok, Dobrok and 58 miles northeast of Fontum, Fontasia. Salicia spans the mouth of the Carrathone (Merrimack) River where it empties into the Atlantic Ocean. This makes it a seaside Governorate. The northern part of the Governorate, north of the Merrimack mouth is where Salicium is located. This region is notable for its salt marshes along its western border, and coastline to its east. It is a densely populated area, known for its rather underdeveloped and outdated streets and homes. South of the Merrimack River is the southern part of the Governorate, located on Arcath (Plum) Island, a coastal barrier island. The southern region of the governorate is known for its beaches and sand-swept streets.
The climate of Salicia is a coastal climate, with mild to hot summers and cool to very cold winters. The ocean greatly regulates the climate. The cold ocean on hot days causes a noticeable fog or haze to form over the landscape, which occurs in other North Coast areas as well.
Culture
Not much is known about the actual culture of Salicia only that it is drastically different to other Fontasian regions. Northern Salicia is known for its recreational activities along its coastline, while the southern part of the Governorate is mainly known for its beaches.
