Prince Rupert I (27 August 1916 – 21 July 2013) of the House of Hartmann was the Maternal great-grandfather of Wilhelm I, the New European Emperor. He was the head of a Prussian noble family that has resided in the United States and now New Europe for over 150 years. Rupert I stepped down as family head in 1988 in favour of his oldest son Rupert II. He retired to the southern United States where he lived peacefully until he suffered heart failure at the age of 95. He was veteran of the D-Day invasion of France and the Battle of the Bulge during the Second World War.
