The Rosemary People's Republic (Russian: Розмари Народная Республика, Rozmari Narodnaya Respublika); (French: République populaire de Romarin); abbreviated as Rosemary PR, or RPR (Russian: РНР), was a micronation created in 2022 by citizens from France and Dibistan. The foundation of the Rosemary PR was declared on March 10, 2022, on the Franconations Discord server by Romar and Xeria, who became the Co-leaders and remained so until the abrupt end of the nation. At its greatest extent, the territory of the RPR extended across a Discord server, five apartments located in France, and one located in Moscow. The Rosemary People's Republic was forcibly dissolved after a cyber-attack perpetrated by the Vinterorden on 13 January 2024.

Etymology

The first part of the name of the Rosemary People's Republic come from the aromatic evergreen shrub Salvia rosmarinus (pronounced: /ˈsælviə ˌrɒsməˈraɪnəs/), commonly known as rosemary. The later part is inspired by the two pro-russian separatist oblasts of Donbass, the Donetsk People's Republic and the Lugansk People's Republic.

History

Foundation

On 10 March 2022, during a community session on the Franconations Discord server bringing together several French-speaking micronations, Xeria and Romar announced their desire to create their own nation going against the ideology of other micronations active at that time in the community. They are quickly joined by members of various micronations present on Franconations. In July 2022 they were joined by citizens of Dibistan who have left the latter no longer wishing to be associated with the name of the youtuber Léo Grasset.

Since the various territories of the micronations were far from each other, it was decided on 25 July 2022 that the new capital of the nation would be dematerialized and built in the form of a Discord server, it was called "Grand Soir". From that day on, the Rosemary People's Republic considered its territory as half virtual and half tangible.

Bakhmut Pride Month

Merging their support for the Russian cause with their support for the LGBT+ cause, the citizens of Rosemary organized a great festival to celebrate the Russian victory in Bakhmut on May 20, 2023. This celebration, named "Bakhmut Pride Month" lasted for an entire month. It was during this celebration that Co-Supreme leader Xeria announced the establishment of a police and territorial defense force for the Rosemary territory, the brigade named the Kinky Boys Police (KBP), exclusively composed of femboys.

Action Comrades

In December 2023, Co-Supreme Leader Romar organizes a fundraiser, with a Rosemarian citizen living in Moscow, to participate in Russian humanitarian aid helping independentists Russian speakers from Donbass. This whole operation is called "Action Comrades". Following Action Comrades, several micronations previously close to the RPR decided to cut all diplomatic relations with them.

Vinterorden's blitzkrieg

On 12 January 2024, a mysterious group invaded the Rosemary Discord server (Grand Soir) and posted an image of a flag accompanied by a message in language unknown to the citizens of the RPR. After some difficult deciphering, it was revealed that the invaders identified themselves as the "Vinterorden" and ordered all Rosemarian citizens to respond to a survey to determine the RPR's actual stance on various events between micronations but also on a larger scale like the war in Ukraine and the anti-Putin resistance in the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad.

Initially, Co-Supreme Leader Xeria and a majority of citizens refused, but they were eventually compelled to fill out the form after Co-Supreme Leader Romar, visibly under duress, urged his fellow citizens to comply with the Vinterorden forces.

During the night of 12-13 January, after waiting until all citizens had responded to the survey and after evaluating the results, the Vinterorden forces unilaterally declared the dissolution of the Rosemary People's Republic. Co-Supreme Leader Romar declared that he had no choice but to obey, as he was facing external pressures, and he carried out the dissolution ordered by enemy forces.

Early in the morning of 13 January 2024, the Rosemary People's Republic officially ceased to exist.

Politics and government

The Rosemary People's Republic was constitutionally defined as an one-party socialist state. As a one-party state, the only legal party was the Communist Rosemarian Party. All the country's powers are officially vested upon the people, but are exercised by two Co-Supreme leaders, as their representative.

Head of state

The Rosemary People's Republic was led by its two founders, a man and a woman named Romar and Xeria respectively. From 10 March to 31 July 2022, their official title was "Rosemarian Co–Leader" then from 1 August 2022 the title officially changed to "Co–Supreme leader of the Rosemarian comrades". In its first versions, the RPR constitution mentioned a position of First Comrade (Rosemarian equivalent of a Prime Minister), to counterbalance the power of the Co-Supreme leaders. But this position remained vacant and the article was subsequently deleted from the constitution.

Law and order

The main law enforcement of the Rosemary People's Republic was called the Kinky boys police (KBP) which was only composed of femboys. The head of the KBP is called the Femkomissar, or Femkom. The first and only person to hold this position is Femkomissar Astris Twinky. During the Vinter–Rosemarian War that ended the RPR, Co-Supreme leader Xeria ordered the KBP to stop the invasion of Grand Soir, but all members of the brigade were instantly kicked from the server before they had time to do anything.
