The Ridgelantic Civil War was a civil war that followed a prolonged political crisis in the Sovereign State of Ridgeland that began on 16 May 2024.
Tensions between the Sovereignty-led Ridgelantic government and the Democratic Opposition have existed since the Kramerkolonie Putsch.
Chronology
16 May
On 16 May 2024, Drew Tucker declared a civil war in the Sovereign State of Ridgeland after receiving threats from multiple political leaders in Ridgeland. The Ridgelantic government subsequently condemned Tucker's statements as “threatening peace” in Ridgeland, and that threats received by Tucker were not serious.[1] At approximately 7:00 RST (8:00 EDT), President Forest C. F. issued an ultimatium to Drew Tucker to stand down and issue a public apology in exchange for keeping his governorship, with a time frame of 24 hours before war began.
Tucker would later declare during negotiations that Tukundy would not secede from the Sovereign State of Ridgeland if Max Livert, one of the Ridgelantic politicians accused of personal threats towards Tucker was tried under Ridgelantic law. Tucker and his government initially agreed to the terms, but after making increasingly harsh demands against Max Livert, along with controversy surrounding Tucker and his attempted arrest of Livert, government negotiations would be withdrawn.[2] Tucker has demanded negotiations be restored.
A secret vote by the National Assembly removed Tucker from political office, with the outcome not being revealed until a day later.
17 May
In the hours before the expiration of the ultimatum, the Ridgelantic military mobilized three men, joining the 2nd Kramerkolonie Light Infantry Division. At 7:00 RST, the Ridgelantic ultimatum expired, officially beginning war between the Ridgelantic government and Tucker's forces. Tukundy officially declared independence at that time Tucker entered Ridgelantic territory at 7:30 RST.[3]
At around 12:30 RST, fighting broke out between Tucker and the 2nd Kramerkolonie Light Infantry Division outside of a school in Kramerkolonie, along with Forest C. F. personally, who led the Ridgelantic military as the commander in chief.
Ferrell had planned an ambush of Tucker by attacking him and luring him into a fenced baseball court, where the Ridgelantic army would encircle him. After the attack began and Ferrell retreated to the court, most of the 2nd Kramerkolonie Division were hesitant to attack, only occasionally stepping in to break up direct fighting. During multiple instances Tucker attempted to capture Ferrell, to no avail. Fighting ended around 1:00 RST after Tucker surrendered in exchange for remaining in government.[4]
