Calimania (officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Calimania; Russian: Демократическая Социалистическая Республика Калимания) is a micronation located in North Houston. It seceded the United States on 23 December, 2023 after President Luke signed the Articles of the Republic into law. Politically, it is a unitary semi-presidential democratic socialist republic under a benevolent dictatorship since 2023.
The official languages in Calimania are American English and Russian, with the latter being spoken in a small minority.
History
Articles of the Republic
Founding Father and incumbent President T. Luke signed the Articles of the Republic into law on 23 December, 2023. The articles consists of 13 amendments detailing the legislature, executive council, presidential line of succession, and the process for lawmaking.
Democratization (2023-present)
Contrary to the name of the republic, since the inception of Calimania in 2023, President Luke has been making efforts to democratize the nation, with the establishment of both a legislature and electoral system. On 24 December, 2023, President Luke signed the "Civil Rights and Responsibilities Act" into law, which outlaws individual discrimination, abuse of power, and allows a fair trial for all citizens. The first congressional election is currently planned to be held sometime in 2024, though Luke has not disclosed the date or period yet. An official constitution for Calimania is in development.
Government & Politics
Executive
The Executive Branch of the Federal Government of Calimania consists of the President, Prime Minister, and Executive Council et al. The framework for the executive branch and respective council was established in the Articles of the Republic. The executive council and prime minister are appointed directly by the president upon taking office for a term. The President of Calimania is limited to a term of 6 years, and one renewable term if consecutive. The official meeting place for the Executive Council is the Executive Chamber in the Executive Home of Calimania.
Legislature
The Legislature of Calimania is a bicameral legislature. It consists of the Council of Momenta and the Congress Dom.
The Council of Momenta (also referred to as the Momenta Council or simply the Council) is the upper-house of the bicameral Legislature of Calimania. It consists of 10 voting members and a presiding officer, usually the Prime Minister of Calimania. Proposed legislature passed by the Congress Dom is then voted on by members of the Council. After a 60% agreement by voting members of the Council, it is then sent to the President to be either signed into law or vetoed. The Council was established in the Articles of the Republic. The official meeting place for the Council is the Council Room in the Executive Home of Calimania.
The Congress Dom (also referred to as the Congressional Dom or simply the Dom) is the lower-house of the bicameral legislature of Calimania. It consists of 27 voting members, 3 non-voting delegates, and a presiding officer, usually the Speaker of the Dom or Prime Minister. For proposed legislature to pass the Dom, it must receive an agreement from over 50% of members, a majority rule vote. The Dom was established in the Articles of the Republic.
Judiciary
The judicial branch of Calimania is called the Department of Judicial Affairs. It was established on 25 December, 2023 as the supreme judicial body of Calimania.
Military
There is no established armed forces of Calimania. Alternatively, the National Security Coalition of the Republic of Calimania (NSCRC) is responsible for upkeeping national security, protecting the nation and government officials from physical and cyber threats, and acts as the de facto law enforcement agency of Calimania.
Elections
Presidential elections are held from 10 December to 24 December on the fifth year of the incumbent president's current term. During the first week of presidential elections, candidates compete to reach the primary ballot in what are called "accession elections". On the second and final week, the top two candidates with the popular vote majority from the accession elections are featured on the primary ballot.
Electoral votes are casted by citizens of Calimania via digital or physical means.

Foreign policy
Calimania's stance on foreign policy is defined by incumbent president T. Luke as being open to foreign diplomatic and economic relations. Foreign affairs regarding Calimania are reviewed by the Calimania Council of Foreign Affairs. Calimania has an official passport, though it is not recognized by any other nation or micronation.

The official currencies in Calimania are the United States dollar and the Calimanian digital coin, a proposed CBDC (central bank digital currency) by President T. Luke. The leading industries in Calimania are information technology, consumer goods, and automobiles.
