The Republic of California (Spanish: La República de California), or Second California Republic, is an unrecognized breakaway state from the United States that considers itself the legitimate successor to the 1846 Bear Flag Republic.
On August 5, 2020 Oberon Wolfe, a Californian Native, issued a Declaration of Independence that reformed the old Californian government. The new Declaration acts as a pseudo-constitution for the republic, laying out the regulations for the basis of the government. The Declaration maintains that a military commander, holding the rank of Major General, was to take control of the country and operate it until a formal republican constitution could be drawn up. The nation is presently an unofficial military dictatorship and operates somewhat as one.
