Empress Day is a public holiday in the Empire of Austenasia. Currently celebrated on 27 February, the holiday celebrates the birthday of the incumbent Consort to the Monarch.
The holiday was established in March 2020 by the Princess Consort Day Act 2020. As the birthday of the incumbent Consort, Empress Hannah, is in February, it has so far only been celebrated twice, in 2021 and 2022. Both years so far have seen the holiday impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic; coronavirus lockdown restrictions restricted the scope for celebrations in the first year, limiting it to a home-made celebratory meal shared by the imperial couple, and the second year saw the holiday again celebrated privately after Emperor Jonathan I contracted coronavirus.
The name of the holiday upon its establishment was Princess Consort Day; this was changed to Empress Day upon the Wedding of Jonathan I and Princess Hannah in November 2022, and so will be celebrated as Empress Day for the first time on 27 February 2023. It will likewise change name according to the title of the Consort of any future Monarch (and date according to their birthday), and as such may be Empress Day, Prince Consort Day, or Princess Consort Day.
