Prince Markus, Duke of Wasa, is the father of Imperial Sovereign Octavian I and the current Duke of Wasa. He currently works as a civil engineer but also assists with administration of the Royal Court of Econia and serves in the Econian Navy.

Prince Markus has served in the Imperial Naval Forces since they were founded. He currently does not hold any officer rank and instead serves as a Seaman (Standard member). The Prince has been offered to be promoted to Captain, the second lowest officer rank, due to his status as a member of the Imperial Family. He has however refused this stating that he wants to get promoted not because of his family but because of his service. It is currently thought he will continue to serve as Seaman for at least the required 1-2 years of "dedicated and extraordinary service" required to be review for possible promotion to officer by the Naval Forces Officers Board.
