The Pope Island Subsidium is a subsidium within the Commonwealth of Naveria. It consists of the western half of the central islet of Pope Island, in northern Lake Kedron. Pope Island is enclaved by the United States of America, though it does share borders with other nations to its east and west.
Pope Island was initially annexed as a province by the Grand Duchy of Navārdia on 23 October 2019, but became a subsidium during a restructuring of the nation's administrative divisions. Much of the territory claimed by Navārdia was given away to its most important allies during the nation's two major government transitions. The latest of these changes was the ceding of the eastern half of the island to Paloma on 30 April 2020.
Etymology
The name Pope Island was presumably coined by the government of Peachtree City, rather than that of a micronation. As such, the reasoning behind its name is unknown. However, the name has been continually used by all present micronational claimants to the island, including Naveria.
