Background and Passage

King Reuben I signing and sealing the Petition for the Kingdom of Salanda to join UNAM Act of 2023, into law of Salanda.

The legislation was introduced by Yusuf I, a Salandarian citizen, whose own nation was a part and a founder of the Union of North Atlantic Micronations and wanted Salanda to also be a part of the organisation.

The legislation was introduced in the People’s Channel of the Tepoelan on 8 August 2023 and was considered for voting by the People’s Channel Board, where it revived all 3 votes in approval for voting unanimously it was then put to a public vote on the 10 August 2023 on the People’s Channel allowing all Salandarian citizens to vote and passed fourteen votes in favour to one against. The Government of Salanda was highly supportive of the legislation given it had included in its 2023 manifesto for Salanda to be more active in international organisations.

The legislation was then granted royal assent and was signed and sealed into law of Salanda by King Reuben I.

The law was struck down by the Supreme Court of Salanda, as the UNAM’s stability made it unconstitutional under Salanda’s diplomatic requirements of establishing collaboration and diplomatic relations via the organisation did not happen due to instability.
