The People's Republic of Pontunia was a short-lived micronation that spawned from the Duchy of Pontunia after the Amogus Party of the Duchy of Pontunia (AUP) obtained a majority in the Hochkouncil great enough to overrule a veto of Duke Andrew. The micronation lasted from 20 February 2021 to 21 February 2021 and had 8 citizens at the time of dissolution. The People's Republic of Pontunia was a single-party communist state under the rule of the great Jeff Pontus.
Etymology
The name People's Republic of Pontunia came from an adaptation of the Duchy of Pontunia to sound more communist. The Duchy of Pontunia itself is named after the Pontchartrain and Maurepas lakes situated to the north of the micronation.
History
The People's Republic of Pontunia was founded on 20 February 2021 by Jeff Pontus after The Amogus Party won a majority in the Hochkouncil large enough to overrule a veto from Duke Andrew. The micronation was subsequently dissolved on 21 February 2021 by the Supreme Leader Jeff Pontus due to the joking nature of it.
Government
The Government of the People's Republic of Pontunia was controlled by the Supreme Leader Jeff Pontus. Ian and Leon Montan served as the Presidents of the Assembly, a member who wished to not be named served as the Premier, with Hunt Powell and Asher Young served as Commissars.
Culture
The culture of the People's Republic of Pontunia was heavily based on Jeff Pontus and his famous saying, "My name Jeff."
