The Palatine Duchy of Mud is a semi-autonomous region in the Archduchy of Mimas. Previously known as the "Duchy of Mud". Founded as an independent nation in 2019 by Palatine Duke Andrew Lind and claimed an area of 0.05 miles, covering Mud Lake, Minnesota.
History
Andrew Lind had during his youth often visited the small "Mud Lake" in Northeastern Minnesota, USA. Lind founded the Duchy of Mud on 23 March 2019 and proclaimed himself Duke. As Lind was a descendant from Swedish immigrants he looked to the constitutional monarchy of Sweden when he created the Duchy of Mud. After contacting the Archduchy of Mimas, Lind and Archduke Christoph II began corresponding. The two nations became so close that Lind eventually decided to ask the government of Mimas to incorporate the Duchy of Mud in the Archduchy. In December 2020 preparations were made for the incorporation of Mud and on 3 January 2021 the shift in ownership and government was made. The Duchy of Mud changed name and became the Palatine Duchy of Mud.
Mimasian rule
The Palatine Duchy of Mud is a semi-autonomous region in the Archduchy of Mimas. The Mimasian Archduke is the monarch and the Mimasian government is the highest deliberative assembly. The Palatine Duke Andrew Lind holds the title of Viceduc and acts in the name of the Archduke.
Creation of the Palatine Duke
To keep order and to honour the special history of the region it was decided that a new subdivision was needed in Mimas. On 3 January 2021 the Palatine Duchies were introduced as the semi-autonomous regions in Mimas.
