The Order of the Cinquefoil (Cartesian: Quinsesiervolerdre) (Juniperian: Cinquefoilordre) is the highest state order of chivalry within the Commonwealth of Juniperia. It was conceived by [[Sean Villevoiche]] and Chris Ramsay and given approval by a letter patent by Athena II, who is the order's sovereign. The order is governed by the Queen of Juniperia with a Chancellor and King of Arms below her. These three ranks alone can delegate the order to recipients.
Structure
The order can be delegated to all human beings, meaning animals cannot receive the order. The order is regulated by the Chancellor, and heraldic propositions are managed by the Cinquefoil King of Arms, Chris Ramsay.
Insignia
The order has several insignia and there exists a governing statute for regulation of insignia. The Juniperian government, furthermore the Office of the Chancellor of the Order may issue the badge of the order for residential citizens, but collars, ribbons, and sashes are only given on special occasion or the recipient must cover the cost of purchase.
Collar
The collar may only be worn by the highest three ranks of the order, the King of Arms, Chancellor and Sovereign. The collar consists of a thread which connects several ornaments and cinquefoils together, on the bottom is either the state escutcheon or the badge of the order, depending on the recipient's choice.
Star and badge
The star and badge are worn by ranks below the King of Arms and above Knight. The star and badge are laid on top of each other and combined into one. The badge consists of the initials of the sovereign and the coat of arms. The initials are not maintained or repaired following the abdication or death of a sovereign.
Badge
The insignia for the most basic rank, the Knight is a badge and ribbon bar. The badge is a gold oval shape with the initials of the sovereign.
Other insignia
The ribbon of the order has only one grade, as it is allowed but uncommon for any rank above knight to wear the ribbon bar. Due to economic constraint, the ribbon bar is often made out of paper and the sash is almost never to be worn.
Composition
The order of the Cinquefoil is composed of several grades; Knight, Knight Commander, Cordon, Grand Cordon, Cinquefoil King of Arms and the Chancellor.
Chancellor
The Chancellor (CHNC) is the de-facto dual head of the order, along with the sovereign. The Chancellor can change the governing statute and grant the order to recipients. The chancellor cannot change the heraldry of the order or grant specialized coats of arms to recipients.
King of Arms
The Cinquefoil King of Arms is a title that can be held in concurrence with the Chancellor. The duty of the King of Arms is to grant coats of arms to recipients. The office is not usually included in the hierarchy of the order, and thus does not have a post-nominal. The King of Arms may also procure heraldic insignia for the order.
