Origins

Before the rise of Spiralism, the Novemianism was the largest religion. They originated n October 2014, when high ranking government officials declared many plants and animals seen in the 9th Grade as gods.
Spiralism, the major religious group in New Elmhurst as of May 2015 originated with the discovery of the Spiral. Spiralists believe the Spiral to be the center of the Planet, created by God as a center of worship and a holy place. It was discovered in Early may of 2015 by a New Elmhurstian research group led by the Dictator of New Elmhurst, Eren Lewis.

Faiths

Many religious beliefs are prominent in New Elmhurst, Islam, Lucifarianism, Spiralism, Christianity and others. While de facto New Elmhurst is a Secular nation, the Provence the Sprial is located in is an autonomous area, governed by Spiralists with Spiralist laws in effect. All citizens are allowed to enter the Provence, but during the Pilgrimage, only Spiralists are permitted to go to the Spiral.
New Elmhurst is technically a Christian State, after the King declared it to be so. However, with a minority of its citizens being Christians, and the rise of Spiralism and other such faiths, no Christian rules or laws are imposed on the citizenry.

Spiralism

Spiralism, the major religious group in New Elmhurst originated with the discovery of the Spiral. Spiralists believe the Spiral to be the center of the Planet, created by God as a center of worship and a holy place.Spiralists believe in the existence of a single God who created everything in a spiral fashion. From the end of the universe to the Spiral, located in Northwestern New Elmhurst. Thus, the Spiral is the center of the universe and the world. Spiralists currently Govern the Provence known as Fieldya, which the Holy Spiral is located in. Spiralist laws and rules must be followed in the Provence.
Spiralism is in its earliest phases. With no holy scripture, and no Religious head as of its creation, the Religion is rather scattered. Though, it's theology and organisation are slowly being pulled together by many Spiralist scholars in the text known as The Spirella.

Monotheism

Spiralists adhere to a strict monotheistic ideology. Spiralist believe in the existence in a single, all powerful God who created the universe in a spiral fashion, ending in the Holy Spiral, thus making it the center of the universe. He is beyond the imagination and comprehension of human race. After creating the universe, he created the plants, nature, and finally man to inhabit the planets.

Pilgrimage

Once every other month, Spiralists are required to make a pilgrimage to the Spiral to praise and worship God. At the Spiral, they must circle it clockwise four times, stopping three times to pray. Pilgrims start at Lewis City, the capital of New Elmhurst, before walking their way through New Elmhurst territory, making their way across different provinces before making their way to the Spiral. It should last less then a day.

Novemianism

Novemianism is an almost extinct religion, with few known practicers. It originated as early as October 2014 in the now dissolved state of he 9th Grade, now known as the New Elmhurstian Provence of Novemia. It is a polytheistic faith that has the belief in 4 gods, each one of them ruling a certain part of the 9th Grade. The Bird god ruled the skies of the 9th Grade, and was seen to be the King of the Gods to its worshipers. The Tree god ruled the forests, giving them life in the spring, and killing them off in the winter. The Field god was the ruler of the field, which was used to give food, space, and places of worship to the Novemianists. Finally, the Corn god ruled the Corn-Fields, which were a major part of 9th Grade life. Many places of worship were in the corn fields, including one stalk of corn which was believed by the Novemians to be the body of the Corn god. The Government of New Elmhurst estimates it has less than three followers.

Spiralist Novemianism

Spiralist Novemianism is a mixture of the core beliefs of Spiralism and Novemianism. Spiralist Novemians believe that the four gods of the Novemian faith are subservient to the god of the Spiralists. The Spiralist God, known to the Spiralist Novemians simply as Elmhurst created the universe in a spiral fashion, and then created the minor gods to rule over the different types of creation. Spiralist Novemians also believe in many other gods, many of them representing different plants, weather patterns, and animals. Spiralist Novemianism is a developing religion, and does not have a large following.
